We are The Over-the-Hill-CrunchGang, also known as OHCG or OHCG'ers
Lets face it for a cabbage 60 is unthinkable, for a mountain it isn't even birth pains but for a human it's just right.
Mis-quote from the book: Created: Shivia the Destroyer
Therefore you may join if you are a cabbage or a mountain and can type or as a human if:
You are 60
You once were 60
Benefit: you get an addition to your signature: Official Member of the #! OHCGT
All others are guests and we ask that you agree to tolerate the ramblings of the Over-the-Hill-CrunchGang. (within #! forum rules of course) and remember not to take seriously what we poke in fun. If you attack our age we will retaliate with comebacks like: Youth foolishly spent is a wise thing because you will loose it and that's when things get serious.
Please feel free to support us for our search for the "Fountain of Eternal Over the Hill" because we have seen youth while climbing to the top and prefer the other side of the hill.
After all, at our age our forgetters are getting better while everything else is shutting down, falling off or going grey!
So with that said:
We hereby declare these bits and bytes of the #! Forum our turf! Forever to be known as the "The Official #! Over-the-Hill-CrunchGang Thread"
And it's official because corenominal said so!
Visitors are welcome.

^ Good stuff and when you get back it will be:
"Hello boys, I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak"
And don't forget your Official Signature tagline. Of course it is optional. RIGHT!
I hereby declare that Randy Quaid (aka Russell Casse) is an Honorary member of the #! OHCG
Which means, it took an OTHCG'er to save the world, or at least show em how it's done!
And as the supreme Crunchbanger'er I also hereby declare corenominal an Honorary Member of the #! OHCG as well.
After all if it wasn't for him we wouldn't be here!

OK, here's a fun test for the OHCG ... Copy the list and then cut/paste the ones you do NOT remember at the bottom of the list. It surprised me:
Double Dog Dare
I'm sharing this with you today because it ended with a "double dog dare" to pass it on. To remember what a "double dog dare" is, read on. Remember that the perfect age is somewhere between old enough to know better and too young to care.
How many do you remember?
Candy cigarettes
Wax coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water inside
Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles
Hoola hoop contests
Buying milk from a vending machine for a quarter, with your penny change taped to the side
Coffee shops with tableside juke boxes
Blackjack, Clove and Teaberry chewing gum
Home milk delivery in glass bottles, with cardboard stoppers
Party lines
Newsreels before the movie
P. F. Flyers
Butch wax
Telephone numbers with a word prefix .... (Drexel-5505
Peashooters
Howdy Doody
45 RPM Records
Green Stamps
Hi-fi's
Metal ice cube trays with levers
Mimeograph paper
Blue flash bulbs
Beanie and Cecil
Roller skate keys
Cork pop guns
Drive ins
Studebakers
Wash Tub wringers
The Fuller Brush man
Reel-to-reel tape recorders
Phonographs
The "twist", "mashed potatoes", and "funky-chicken"
Tinkertoys
The Erector Set
The Fort Apache Playset
Lincoln Logs
15 cent McDonald hamburgers & 10 cent fries
5 cent packs of baseball cards..... with that slab of pink bubblegum
penny candy
35 cent-a-gallon gasoline
When the first man walked on the moon
When Elvis Presley first appeared on the Ed Sullivan show
When the Beatles arrived
When the Barbie doll hit the scene
If you can remember most or all of these, then you have lived!!! Pass this on to anyone who may need a break from their "grown up" life....I double dog dare ya!!!

Another quote by the corn cob smoking general that is great:
You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair.
~ Douglas MacArthur
NOTE: Too bad the "quote" function says: "X wrote" it should state: "Quoting X" because I don't know if Douglas MacArthur said it or wrote it, he probably "said it" and someone else wrote it.

Okay, I'm not a member, nor am I eligible (I'm 26), but I remember some of the things you're talking about so for fun here's the small list of old timey stuff I remember from my childhood and recently.
Candy cigarettes- (My grandma always bought me candy cigs when she'd buy her real ones....... and I wonder why I smoke)
Wax coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water inside
Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles
Coffee shops with tableside juke boxes- (Okay not a coffe shop, but where I grew up we had an old pharmacy/ soda fountain and there's a local owned restaurant that has them to this day!)
Blackjack, Clove and Teaberry chewing gum- (Does Cracker Barrel carrying this stuff count?)
P. F. Flyers- (Had a pair when I was a kid and they're back!)
45 RPM Records
Hi-fi's
Metal ice cube trays with levers
Cork pop guns
Drive ins
Reel-to-reel tape recorders
Phonographs
Tinkertoys
The Erector Set
Lincoln Logs
5 cent packs of baseball cards..... with that slab of pink bubblegum
penny candy- (This and the baseball cards could all be had at a place called Safeway when I was a kid. Really Safeway was the last bastion for the things in this list.)
Maybe one day I'll be able to look at my Grandkids and reminisce about how we had Keyboards and Mice and there use to be this company called Microsoft. Ah, in my head the future looks bright.

I got on a blue kick yesterday evening and thought I'd jot down a few of my favorite songs with blue either in the title or lyrics. In no particular order and for your listening enjoyment they are:
Bell Bottom Blues - Eric Clapton Live
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LzlJe9_AxM
Blue Moon - The Marcels
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7giOrKYIwpQ
Blue Bayou - Roy Orbison and Friends
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c4C0SlXBLc
Blue Eyes Cryin' In the Rain - Willie Nelson
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7vaYOIKWYY
Blue Suede Shoes - Eddie Cochran
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoRlhL4pIng
Blue Bayou - Linda Ronstadt and the Muppets
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbjsMGyZVDw
and just so some of the old-time head bangers don't feel left out heres's something a little bit different
Blue Suede Shoes - Black Sabbath
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uryWJ1T1q4
There's too many to put in at once especially when you don't use google to search for every blue song and then cut and paste seventy-eleven at a whack. It was a lot more fun to just sit and look and listen to them one at a time. Now -- where did I leave off in my list?

....Drive ins....
I was in college during the 1970's and one night went to a drive-in with the guy who roomed next door. He was a military brat who had grown up in Euorpe. We sat there, on the hood of my car munching popcorn and out of the blue he said so this is a drive-in. I've seen them in the movies!

....Howdy Doody....
Y'all gonna have to your homework on this one -- I wont google it for you but will tell you for a fact there were two different Howdy Doodys. I remember both of them and remember remembering at the time there had been a change.

We actually welcome youth here - helps keep us young at heart.

Safeway you say!!!! My, I have not seen a Safeway in ... years! They were "the" place for groceries when I was a kid in western Canada. They aren't in eastern Canada. Boy talk about memories, Thank you.
I can hear your grandkids now, one of two comments:
"OMG! A keyboard and mouse! WoW you really are old grandpa!"
or
"Keyboard? Mouse? Was the mouse alive? What did you feed it?"
I remember my oldest son, and this was a good 25 years ago, "Hey dad, did grandpa let you use the family dinosaur to pick up your dates?" I wanted to kill him!
I hope you do have a bright future, keep the light lit in your heart it will help! And remember the wisdom of your children is based on how well you instill the desire to learn in them. Feed their curiosity with more curiosity.

Hahahahaha that's great! I really enjoyed drive-ins. There was something special about them. As a kid in the back seat we would usually eat our popcorn and fall asleep. As a young man it was ... ummmm... errrr ... see definition below and as a married man to watch the movies.
Defination of a drive-in: Wall to wall car petting!

Speaking of Howdy Doody and 'Statler' . . . do you remember the Original Muppet?
He was a brown dog that played the piano on the Jimmy Dean variety show. What was his name?
[A true test of age and memory]

WoW! I have to admit I know Jimmy Dean but had to look up the Muppet and since I did I will not give away the answer.
However a teaser....
Xxxxx was built in 1962 for Purina Dog Chow commercials, in which he appeared with Baskerville the Hound. Jim Henson designed Xxxxx, and Don Sahlin built him; it was Sahlin's first muppet construction.
Xxxxx rose to popularity as Jimmy Dean's sidekick on The Jimmy Dean Show. He was the first Muppet with a regular spot on network television appearing in many episodes from 1963 to 1966. Jimmy Dean stated that the segments with Xxxxx were one of the most popular parts of the show, and that Xxxxx drew two thousand fan letters a week.
In 1968, Xxxxx appeared with Kermit the Frog on the pitch reel for Sesame Street. At the end of the pitch reel, Xxxxx is depicted as being eager to join the Sesame Street cast, while Kermit seems reluctant to do so; ironically, it was Kermit who became a Sesame star, while Xxxxx appeared only in one filmed segment and was never a part of the show's regular cast.

ROLF the dog and the really early Sam and Friends which featured a Kermit who was not yet a frog!
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sa … earch&aq=f
Sam and Friends was Jim Henson's first television show, a five-minute show that aired twice daily on WRC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Washington, DC
