Tint2: Always on top/overlay applications

Good day.

First of all, hi. I don't use Crunchbang, but Ubuntu with a self-configured openbox-setup, based on a few gnome config programs and applications.

However, I have now reached the point where I realise that I do not need a full panel. I'd however like to use a 15% screen size, with space being reserved mostly to function as a system tray.

Here comes the issue: I want the tint2 panel to be always on top, as it now takes up a permanent 25 pixles from my fullscreen applications (e.g. chromium). If it could overlay all applications, perhaps with an exception of non-windowed fullscreen programs (for example games through wine). That way I'll be able to use applications like browsers etc and still see my panel/tray in the lower right corner. I have not been able to find any variable for tint2rc that enables always on top functionality.

Does anybody know of such a feature for tint2?

Re: Tint2: Always on top/overlay applications

I tried panel_layer = top, but discovered I had version 0.7 installed (Ubuntu repository). Downloaded and compiled 0.9 (and a lot of dependencies), and fired up tint2 again. No current improvement by now, and the #Autohide section is not present. I'll keep on experimenting, however.

Thanks.

0.10 is out. you have to replace your current tint2rc file with the one from the sample folder from the one you just downloaded.

Re: Tint2: Always on top/overlay applications

Hi, just tried the panel_layer option, but it doesn't act as I want.

When configured for a horizontal use, tint2 w/o panel_layer option just act as I want: it stays on top and maximized windows adapt themselves.

I would like tint2 to act the same when it is configured for vertical use. For now, with panel_layer option it stays over maximized windows, and without it stays under... I would like maximized windows to adpat themselves, just as it does when configured horizontally.

EDIT: nevermind, I figured it out...
