Connecting an external monitor to netebook on Statler: lxrandr

As usual I do all the dry runs before providing solutions to my family's computing needs. I was quite happy in my bachelor's abode with trailing 10metre ethernet cables, having a perhaps unfounded fear that someone could hack into a wireless setup. But after trying out wireless system on a netgear modem router I was converted. No more dangerous trailing cables and hey a tidier pad.

This time I have hooked up my Samsung nc10 running xfce statler to a 1280 x 1024 external monitor to see how practical it is as a working solution for my daughter who loves my netbook but who needs to be able to work at home on a full size screen.

Lxrandr seems to be the ideal gui solution. It works really well without any fuss. I highly recommend it.

My next task will be installing crunchbang statler on my daughter's samsung n510 11'' screen netbook with ion graphics card. Tough times ahead possibly.

I dont think you should have any issues with that, luvva_cuppa, just follow the guide (posted on the wiki, or definitely in the forums) for installing nvidia drivers.
All should be well. Good luck!
