Strange BunsenLabs audio problem

When I run BunsenLabs from a live cd the audio works fine. But after installing it in two laptops and updating and upgrading BL, audio does NOT work. I'm unsure if this is a bug in BL or Debian or something else.

I have not put anything outside the repository on the laptops. In fact, very few packages are added to a Lenovo X200s, though I did slide in an Expresscard for USB 3.0.

A Lenovo X201 laptop install has no other packages on it. Merely BL updated and upgraded. But the audio does not work after the install.

Any ideas on this???

Re: Strange BunsenLabs audio problem

Weird how it works from the Live session.

First, open a terminal and run this...

sudo alsactl init

Second, try opening pavucontrol (S+v), go to the Output tab and make sure it's not muted. Even if this fixes it, you might find that you have to keep opening pavucontol.

If that's the case, I would uninstall pulseaudio (easily re-installed) and see if alsa "just works"...

sudo apt-get purge pulseaudio pavucontrol && sudo apt-get install alsa-base
