There is not a single perfect reference management application for Linux.
I have tested Mendeley, Docear, JabRef, Kbibtex, Zotero. As it is now, I am going to use Citavi (paid for by my university) on a Windows VM. It's pretty much all I want. EndNote is out of the question due to rampant data loss problems).
Does somebody have a recommendation for other BibTeX-compatible reference management software which runs natively on Linux he has had good experiences with? Free of charge is not a requirement: professional-grade programs please
Still curious if there is something for Linux.
Just curious, as a (fully-satisfied) Mendeley user myself, what are your qualms with it?
I have not used Citavi myself, so can't compare.

^ The GUI is not terse enough, attached spy service, and the BibLaTeX interface is also indirect and not direct. But good news, kbibtex just released v 0.6 and it fixes the worst issues, so now I'm on kbibtex again and pretty saisfied for the time being.

I ordered a banan pi and a wd red lastweek, and now I'm thinking I should have ordered at least one moar and start building a mini cluster:

Or, you could just combine the processing power of all of your x86 machines lol

@CSCoder4ever Yeah I did that once about 5 years or so ago just for kicks, using PelicanHPC. I compiled a kernel on first just my main box, then using the cluster. I wish I had saved the numbers so I could quote the results for you. All I recall now is that it was a huge amount faster.
I was using 5 desktops, and specified more thread use for the compile. Was pretty impressed, but of course the power consumption for daily use made this just a fun experiment. If electricity was free, and more things ran multi-threaded, I would have left it hooked up.

I just got back from vacations ... and from almost a month without proper (read: fast and flat) internet connection, this is what I got from 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' on sid:
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:

libsgutils2-2 libstdc++-4.9-dev libusageenvironment2 libuuid-perl

That's what gcc-5.0 did, didn't it?
I was tempted to press 'Y', but since gimp would be removed, it seems wise to wait a bit, until gimp is recompiled with gcc-5.

Ah and btw torrents work again. See the website for the updated .torrent files. We now also have our own private tracker.

Oh dear, I'm very sorry about that -- I didn't realise it was a link to debian.org :8
EDIT: Even though I copy-pasta'd the link -- d'oh!

is it really that hard to google/duckduckgo/whatever to try and solve issues on linux? Someone was talking bad about it all because they couldn't get flash working on firefox....

The site is looking really good! However, towards the bottom of the page http://www.bunsenlabs.org/resources.html, under the Development Team heading, there is a line that reads "The core development team currently compromises the following people (alphabetically sorted):"
The bit I've put in bold should read "is currently comprised of", surely? Because I don't think the core team are trying to compromise anyone

Thanks! All grammar and spelling mistakes on our pages have been and will be my fault.

The project is the community continuation of CrunchBang #! Linux.
How about The project is a community continuation of CrunchBang #! Linux.?
Claiming the entire (nebulous) #! community without its buy-in could prove counter-productive (see Monaragate). One is not more correct than the other, they will just have different effects. You decide.
