^ hmmm.... it seems everyone is shouting "FUD" in all directions without being able to prove anything one way or the other.
oh, my dear 3rd millenium...
Don't get me wrong, HoaS, I'm inclined to believe you.

^Why is it FUD? I think the site is amateurish, badly laid out, poorly written and lacking in substantiated argument but other than that it's pretty on the money.
For what it's worth, I don't think we can prove Microsoft are bad guys but knowing that leopards don't change their spots, I do believe the burden of proof is on the perky little "Microsoft has changed " gang.

If anyone is into psychological horror/suspense, I can highly recommend Brian Kirk's debut novel, We are Monsters.
The Apocalypse has come to the Sugar Hill mental asylum.
He’s the hospital’s newest, and most notorious, patient—a paranoid schizophrenic who sees humanity’s dark side.
Luckily he’s in good hands. Dr. Eli Alpert has a talent for healing tortured souls. And his protégé is working on a cure for schizophrenia, a drug that returns patients to their former selves. But unforeseen side effects are starting to emerge. Forcing prior traumas to the surface. Setting inner demons free.
Monsters have been unleashed inside the Sugar Hill mental asylum. They don’t have fangs or claws. They look just like you or me.
Just got this in the mail.

I haven't had to respond to that dialog in forever, though.

^^OpenBSD is not responsible for what Microsoft does to it. Are you worried the project might become acquiescent?

they donated on the gold level, which means between 25 and 50.000$ - that's less than peanuts for a company like MS.
this is just another publicity stunt.
they can hide a lot of abusive action towards unix-like operating systems behind that.
fuck'em.

I think MS just want to make sure OpenSSH is working as well as it can because they are introducing it to Windows.

I can see why, the quality of the OpenBSD base system is nothing short of stunning.
And they deserve the money

^ Maybe Microsoft wants to ensure that OpenBSD can continue to quickly respond to zero day exploits like they did with Heartbleed?
As for Microsoft Edge, it just looks like it's optimized for consuming.
