I have not tried #!++, so maybe it's good and may not but I don't think it can fairly be called a "community" distro.
You may want to leave your own comments on YouTube if you agree or disagree.

I can't help but facepalm everytime they say #!++ is the community driven successor... it obviously is not!

Saw this on g+ today as well. Doh!
Oh well, when he has to troubleshoot 10,000 my wireless isn't working complaints he will likely lose interest in the whole thing. People will still come here to get answers to their most vexing questions and soon we should have a rocking little distro, along with an entire community to help support it. The reason I don't release my own little respin is because I simply don't have the time to support it on my own. Plus, I just know BunsenLabs is gonna rock the Casbah. Anybody with the time and willingness could probably build their own openbox respin but supporting it is an entirely different barrel of racoons to open up.

With 536 views I don't think anybody's paying much attention to that video...

I dispute your assertion, you are quibbling over the body count. CBPP repositories list two github contributors, BL lists five. While the BL count is "over twice the size", both have more than one developer involved and are derived from original CB users. There are simply two distinct communities... A preference for one does not invalidate the other.
...I can't help but facepalm everytime they say #!++ is the community driven successor... it obviously is not!
Nothing obvious about it. Of CBPP and BL, which has made a release? Which has a website about the product? Which can you download today? In the "real world" alphas, betas, and product announcements constitute intentions not products. Once BL releases, CBPP will be demoted to one of multiple successors but until then it is quite legitimately perceived as "the" successor.
There are two very different design philosophies in play. CBPP has prioritized strict mimicry and getting a release out-the-door ASAP. BL has prioritized replicating and improving "the whole package" and releasing it as a unit. CBPP is missing essential pieces: live media and a proper community forum (sorry, reddit is a poor substitute). BL intends to supply those pieces plus real improvements, arguably a more solid product.
BL also embraces the Debian philosophy: it will be released when it is ready. While entirely sensible, until there is a release it does not yet constitute a distribution.

To be fair, it was through this man's videos that I heard of CrunchBang in the first place. In any case, if they believe his views count for anything the BL team can ask him to review Bunsen Labs (when ready). I'm sure if asked nicely he'd be delighted to give exposure to the project. Maybe even before it's ready.

I too made a video trying out CB++. I uploaded it and Linux Help Guy commented on it and a couple of hours later he uploaded his own video. Was he prompted to make his video by watching mine? If he was, he didn't read the video notes where i clearly state that CB++ is 'an independent continuation of the Crunchbang legacy.' rather than a community effort.
My video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWALti_3nVc ...it's an everyday user's look at CB++ so don't expect tech critique ...not everyone is at that level of expertise (or indeed wish to be!), some folk just want to see what it looks like, how light it is, and what you get OOTB.
I'm sure that both of us will do a similar video looking at BunsenLabs when it is released. I'm also sure that whilst there is nothing wrong with CB++ coming into existence, we would both agree that the real successor to Crunchbang will be the community maintained one

@0:22, is "Linux Help Guy" pronouncing Mate wrong? If not, I've been pronouncing it wrong the whole time...thought it was named after the South American infusion. If he is pronouncing it wrong, I think that merits an ad hominem bias against the rest of the video.

I've always thought it was mate, as in "Good day, mate!". I never thought of mate, infusion, being a possibility, and I do drink that a lot.

Looks like you're right.

An Argentinian user of Arch Linux started the MATE project[4] in order to meet this demand[5] and announced the availability of Mate on 18 June 2011.

I was pronouncing Gentoo wrong for years before corrected here on these forums.

I must admit that I stopped watching the video when he started talking about his bowel movements
@pvsage: I have always pronounced it "jentou" -- is that correct?
Offline
http://mate-desktop.org/ confirms what pvsage though and Inodoro Pereyra pointed out:
Where does the name come from?
The name "MATE", pronounced Ma-Tay, comes from yerba maté, a species of holly native to subtropical South America. Its leaves contain caffeine and are used to make infusions and a beverage called mate.
I still prefer my mate in a drink form and my desktop the OpenBox way.

How is Gentoo pronounced, and what does it mean?
Gentoo is pronounced "gen-too" (the "g" in "Gentoo" is a soft "g", as in "gentle"). The scientific name of the Gentoo penguin is Pygoscelis papua. The name Gentoo has been given to the penguin by the inhabitants of the Falkland Islands.

Hehe! Don't get him started about pronunciation! He has an entire video dedicated to why the whole world should mis-pronounce many established linux-related words. I won't put a link here, but it's pretty recent on his YouTube timeline.
