The method you have linked should work.
You can also try:
sudo cp debian.iso /dev/sdX sudo sync

Works fine for me. To stop us making wild guesses, what exactly have you done, and what is the problem?
Why are you using the older iso though, now RC2 is released?
To install Debian testing, we recommend you use the Jessie RC 2 release of the installer

debian-boot talked also about the problems with some of the weeklies for testing-jessie, only xfs available, etc.
RC2 works like a charm, at least for me. To usb via dd.

good point on using RC2 instead. I didn't get very far in my CrunchBang-ification of the RC1 system, so I'll likely start over with RC2.
The "RC1" & "RC2" refer to the installer rather than the installed system -- no need to "start over"
