Jessie LXDE/Openbox thingie-in-progress (pearoast from "The Beginning" thread). So far, biggest changes from Vanilla Jessie are I replaced LXPanel with Tint2, added Conky, and brought over a few config files from Waldorf. Aside from that and hhh's wonderful crunchy-dark-grey theme, everything else is straight outta Debian.

Debian 8 LXDE :
Debian 8 LXDE in Openbox-session
Not to shabby without tweaking to much yet. Focused on the functionality of menus and stuff, but it's starting to shape up nicely. Very fast indeed. But that's no surprise. LXDE ships with lighter apps

Looking good! crunchy-dark-grey's gtk3 on jessie has fugly light-border-shadow on some buttons, I'm fixing it slowly.
Standalone Openbox/lxpanel/compton/xfce4-power-manager/xfce4-volumed on jessie using xfsettingsd to handle theming, mouse control/touchpad, keypad layout, display resolution...

I switched after a long time from black-white to a more colourful layout ... took me a few hours to build it, but it's ready at last ^.^
The theme is consistent from boot time to desktop (eg. tty terminals, SLiM, OpenBox, Emacs, Terminator, st ...) ... :-D

@skbierm: Lovely desktop there. I've gone with teal before, but you did it very well; reminds me of Solarized Dark.

Debian Jessie netinstall. Openbox, tint2, compton, conky, Terminal geometries, positioning, and depth set via devilspie 2 (this is a work in progress. Im fixing to change it all up again utilizing some old but excellent how-tos on this forum), 2nd screen shows me using HackStation as my OB theme and damo's IcyBlack for GTK theme (though the blues do probably need to be grays for this one). I'm running a little more resource heavy than I would like. I will likely copy these configs over to my sid install and take another shot at the base install this weekend.

^ Well done
What is the font you used for "BunsenLabs"?

@skbierm, tknomanzr, if you documented or remember how you got your openbox setup to where it is,please post here so others can do their own jessie or sid #!-ish setups...

Eurostile Bold -- Oops forgot to check the licensing when I built that. I have about a bazillion fonts at wrok dating all the way back to Corel days. It's hard for me to know what the license actually is unless I go look it up.

Will do. I am close to done tweaking. I just want to finish out my gtk setup. Once done, I will do another run-through and take some notes. My first run was a bit sloppy. Johnraff in particular has given some good pointers.

A classic sci-fi font, used extensively in 2001: A Space Odyssey, for example...

Other great sci-fi fonts are Futura, OCR-A, OCR-B and MICR (see Westminster or Data 70).
