[SOLVED] ranger high memory on idle

I found that ranger consumes more RAM when standing idle. I just open rxvt-unicode then ranger. Select a directory with images keept it at least more than half an hour on terminal.

120.5MB ram ^
Me, as more time passes, the more RAM grow the cause is just "ranger" i have many many term applications no one consume so much ram then ranger on idle. Do you know any tips to stop this issue?

I've been reading Internet but can't find a provided fix till now. Also can you reproduce this issue on your system?
Only if i close all terminals and reopen, ranger starts minimal until that hour passes RAM increased again.

So temp fix is just close and reopen terminals/ranger too.

ranger:
  Installed: 1.6.1-1
  Candidate: 1.6.1-1
  Version table:
 *** 1.6.1-1 0
        500 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ jessie/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Thanks in advance,
Kindly regards,

SOLVED, just re-configured the original config the ram issue is solved. No more ram in vain - Thank you machinebacon.

ranger:
  Installed: 1.6.1-1
  Candidate: 1.6.1-1

w3m-img:
  Installed: 0.5.3-19
  Candidate: 0.5.3-19

I had these run for 22 minutes and had a steady usage of 1.1% RAM. You have image preview set to true?
What if you move the ~/.config/ranger folder to another location and create a new configuration with 'ranger --copy-config=all', and then edit the rc.conf again to preview_images=true

Maybe w3m-img is causing this...

Re: [SOLVED] ranger high memory on idle

Hi machinebacon,

Yes i set image preview to true, i have same w3m-img version "0.5.3-19" too. Didn't move the ranger folder or config in another location. I'll do it and let you know. Idk perhaps w3m-img preview is issue, maybe yes because everytime i leave on idle i leave ranger always with image actived/minimized.

I'll do some test.
Thank you

Re: [SOLVED] ranger high memory on idle

I kept on test almost all night, surprisingly i see rxvt/ranger has consumed only 10MB RAM. It may be the cause of ranger customized theme? perhaps yes, because in default theme everything looks fine. I Will investigate a little more then i call Solved this topic.
