You should have the package gtk2-engines-murrine installed for proper gtk2 rendering and be running Debian jessie, testing or unstable.
Contains gtk2/gtk3, Openbox and xfce4-notifyd themes. Designed to match the jessie Lines artwork and the BlueMenta window manager themes (sudo apt-get install mate-themes).
Please post if you find any issues.
I've tested it with the window managers I currently have installed.

BlueMenta also has WM themes for Cinnamon and Unity.
Thanks for testing!

...must...resist urge...to joke about...how "Deb8" sounds...said out loud...
It looks lovely! At first glance, I don't even mind that it's a bright theme (and coming from me, that says a lot). Could you post a scrot of some applications showing off some of the gtk widgets (spinbuttons, buttons, scrollbars, etc)?
EDIT: Possible peccadillo in Transmission-gtk:

@pvsage, thanks! re: Transmission, that's when you click "Properties" on a downloading torrent? I'mm not seeing that. It's possible my upload was corrupt, try dowwnloading again please.
re: the name, I just chose it for Debian 8 but smiled to myself ten minutes later when I caught the whatever-you-it. Pronounceable acronym?
I can post screenshots after I sleep some, I have a headache from editing rc files. Cheers!

I guess pvsage means "white on grey"
Nice theme, I might try it tonight on my MATE box.

^ I just meant "Deb8 sounds like debate". Lots of sturm und drang (e.g. systemd; gtk+, aka "gtk update broke my theme") involved in Jessie development, and much of it permeating the whole FOSS ecosystem.
@hhh: It might be a difference between gtk+ versions. Your theme is written for Jessie, and I'm running Waldorf with gnome-themes-standard installed from wheezy-backports.

^ pvsage ... I try it again:
Looking at the scrot you posted it is quite clear that white letters on grey background are hard to read. At least for me with perfect vision. Or did you mean something else with the "peccadillo"?
So I guess the gtk3 section needs a slight modification.

Yup, that's the "peccadillo". (Apparently that term is in Iceweasel's English spellcheck lexicon. ) I just assumed you didn't pick up on what, to me was an obvious text-to-pronunciation thing; I have a habit of assuming everyone else sees/hears what Americans see/hear.

I've corrected a GTK 2 error about a non-existing image and added many changes from Greybird's GitHub master theme, so the GTK 3 theme looks much better now (transmission-gtk, for instance).

That's the problem, GTK 3's constant breakage of themes with each upgrade. wheezy's version of libgtk-3.0 is at 3.4, jessie and sid (for now) are at 3.14. I checked Greybird-master on Waldorf Live and the same color error was there. I've tried to find the selector but haven't come up with anything.
@machinebacon, let me know if you try it, and thanks!

Didn't backports used to have a later version of libgtk-3-0? I'm only showing 3.4.2-7 in wheezy, and nothing in backports.
@hhh: I don't suppose you're interested in backporting your theme? If you are, I can post the stderr when launching transmission-gtk.

I'm glad you're enjoying this theme, but the changes are just too numerous. Download murrine-themes in wheezy and compare Greybird's gtk-widgets.css to what's in this theme. It's like 90% completely different, Greybird doesn't even require the Unico engine anymore. Plus, I'm on an Aspire One with the original 8G SSD, I don't have the space to install wheezy. Your best bet is to use a gtk3 theme like the one in default waldorf and import the color scheme into it.

^ The color scheme works quite well with the light Adwaita engine too. Thanks a lot for your work on this theme though; I expect it to serve well in Jessie/Janice.

Thanks sage, macbac.
@Nili, cool. BTW, all the hex-codes are at the top of gtkrc and gtk.css so you can change the color scheme easily. I use gcolor2 to pick colors, Unia's gcolor3 is another good option. (Off to download gcolor3...)

Still need to properly re-write it

Nice theme. Works well in Debian Sid; and makes a nice looking lightdm-gtk-greeter theme.

Thanks P_R.
@Unia, I balked at the ReadMe when it said "ridiculous amount of dependencies", but I'm going to tackle it in a few here.
For anyone as picky as I am, re-download as I've changed the GTK3 menu padding. The bottom menu item didn't have any and didn't match the GTK2 padding.

That "ridiculous amount of dependencies" was just sarcasm, as it only depends on gtk3 to be installed (which is already there on most systems).

I made a dark variant...
Super easy to change the color scheme, right?
A couple of suggestions...
First, if you could link gnome-look back to here or to the download link for Deb8, that would be cool. I'd also put a note there recommending gtk2-engines-murrine.
Also, if you want to do a dark variant that will look pretty similar to this, I'd start w/ my other theme...
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=31510
That will fix the issues your having with buttons having the wrong color bottom border and dark text on a dark background. I realize the GTK3 theme to crunchy-dark-grey needs tweaking, but I'm not going to look at any css files for at least a few days.
