Application for class notes

Hi guys! I'm very new to #! and Linux in general, but installed it on my old laptop so I can use it for school next semester.

What software do you guys like best for taking notes in class?

Thanks!

Re: Application for class notes

It really depends, on whether or not the teacher is a big time "hawtie" or not. If she is ... forget about notes. Concentrate on the X-ray vision apps for gnu/nix.  glasses

Re: Application for class notes

I have a similar script as CSCoder4ever
usage (adapt the script to your needs first);

mkdir notes
cd notes
./new note
#!/bin/bash
# new

part1=$(date +"%y%m%d")
part2=$(date +"%H%M%S")

while [ $# -gt 0 ]; do

echo "${part1}_${part2}_$1.md"
touch "${part1}_${part2}_$1.md"

part2=$(printf '%06d\n' "$((10#$part2+1))")
# adding a counter here, so that each argument=post will get in alphabet
# this is not done in the clock aware format, so seconds like 60, 70, ect
# are possible

    shift
done

p.s. In actuality I strongly prefer paper/pen as well, due to its graphics abilities and not making key-press sounds.

Re: Application for class notes

I'd suggest googling 'Linux Note Taking Software' and see which ones look worth trying. GetNote or Xournal might be a good places to start. It really depends on how much post note taking editing and organization you want to do. In theory you could just as easily take notes in Geany or some other text editor if you wanted.

Re: Application for class notes

It's pretty common for American universities to require a laptop these days.
