In the past I understand that this was a problem at the repository, which gets sorted fairly quickly.
...or have I borked something without touching anything?

I didn't get any errors, but I'm using another mirror. Perhaps try a different mirror temporarily?

I performed an update including updating the kernel headers and now I've got a black screen.... any suggestions?

My suggestion is that you post your question in Help & Support, and give a bit more information. Your problem doesn't have anything to do with the question I posted - you have presumably done an upgrade or dist-upgrade, because update doesn't change your system.

yeah, Sorry 'bout that... It wasn't intentional. My apologies to all.

No errors on apt-get update here, try it again ?

I changed the mirror and now I'm getting a BADSIG key error for security.debian.org, and a hash sum mismatch with packages.crunchbang.org.
(The BADSIG in the past has been a bug, according to Mr.Google)
Next thing to do may be to apt-get debian-keyring and debian-archive-keyring, in case something has changed there - it has helped others in the past.
I haven't touched anything in /etc/apt (apart from changing the mirror) because this is on my stable install - I leave the fiddling to other installations.
Any thoughts?

@ damo: I also experienced no errors with apt-get update. If it isn't your mirror, could it be a perhaps a package you installed recently? I got similar errors on both my desk- and laptop last week after "experimenting" with some packages I installed. I hope you have better luck than I did resolving the issue. 8)

FWIW I tried a different mirror, but still got the hash sum mismatch with the crunchbang packages
I commented out crunchbang in sources.list, then did apt-get update - no errors reported.
I re-enabled packages.crunchbang and updated again - no erors, yay!
I think it was a Release.gpg error which has now resolved itself

I just had the same problem and there seems to be an easy fix.
Do the following:
1. sudo apt-get install debian-archive-keyring
Next, go online and download: dpkg-mozilla-archive-keyring_1.1_all.deb
2. install downloaded package:
sudo dpkg -i pkg-mozilla-archive-keyring_1.1_all.deb
3. Verify all is well by running update:
sudo apt-get update
This worked for me. Good luck!
