Edit live #!

Hello all,

I have a simple question. Since I want #! live on my usb, with very limited modification i.e. only:
- custom background
- custom tint2

Can I just mount the live iso, change those settings and remake the iso?

Thank you all for your answser(s).

Re: Edit live #!

To exploit a meme, "One does not simply mount a hybrid Live ISO", assuming you wrote it to your USB drive using the recommended dd method.  To elaborate, the Live ISO doesn't have a partition table as such, so there's no partition to mount; the file system is more like a large extended floppy...but that's not an entirely accurate analogy, as floppy drives can be mounted as such, but a Live ISO can't.

If you are one of those few who have successfully used something like Unetbootin to put a CrunchBang ISO on your thumbdrive, you may be able to mount it.  Otherwise, you should have a look at remastersys.

Re: Edit live #!

Thank you pvsage,

No, I did not yet install the iso on my usb. But from your post, and after some trying myself, I discovered that, indeed, it is not possible.

Thanks for the remastersys recommendation. I will post the solution if I find it.

Re: Edit live #!

Well, if I understood correctly OP, here is an idea: if this is possible with Live ISO, then it might be possible to do some fiddling with Live #! ISO setings, as well?

Re: Edit live #!

Yes, you can, if you mount the ISO in an installed Linux system (not inside of a Live system) and "unsquash" it. Make your changes and squash it back. iMBeCil linked a guide, you can use it as base and skip the dpkg things there (so skip everything between 'dpkg-divert ...' and 'dpkg -l > packages' steps in that instruction and make your customizations there)
