@Sector11:  Ranting - U R doing it wrong. tongue

Good news for gamers!  I suspect this is a test case, and the future of commercial games in Linux rides on how well it sells.  I'm no gamer - as I've mentioned previously on this forum, I think my last PC game was Tomb Raider III - but I wish nothing but the best for Gearbox Software and 2K Games in this endeavor.

Gee, and I though I did that rant so well too. lol lol

I gave up games back in my DOS days, but every now and then I pop in DosBox and play the registered games I have: Castle Wolf - the granddaddy of them all, Hexxen and Doom.  I get tired of them quickly and delete them.

But I understand people playing games.  My wife has discovered flash games roll and like you wish them well.  It will draw more people to Linux.

I do have games here though: sudo apt-get install sgt-puzzles - a bunch of brain games. For those rainy days when nothing else fills the bill --- been a long time since I've opened one.

Re: Borderlands 2 is coming to linux!

Has borderlands 1 or 2 been playable with wine?  Haven't tried it yet.  I read that the latest tomb raider was and really want to try that on the other rig I just frankensteined from my wife's old pc parts.

Re: Borderlands 2 is coming to linux!

I hear that both are in fact playable in wine, I personally however have failed to successfully install Borderlands 1 in wine.

Also turns out that Borderlands 2 is in fact on the Linux part of my steam library... how awesome is that!?
it being playable is another story, but at least a port's on its way.

OK, I admit Flash is something different.  I wasted about an hour and a half of one evening/morning on the Skinnerbox called "Cookie Clicker" (thanks to Gamer Luna and her infamous sister's Tumblr blog roll )...then I moved on.

But anyway, Steam is not Flash.  Seems Steam support is the most compelling reason to go to Jessie or Sid at the moment.

Re: Borderlands 2 is coming to linux!

^ I'd be using Arch... but Unfortunately I find the support for my 7950 on the... -1 side, so I'd much rather wait until I go Nvidia to go there! 8o

don't worry, I'd find a machine to throw #! on!  8o

Hehehehehe .. we all get stuck on something, I had a Hands of War (flash) thing going for a while... my wife is always saying, "Hey look at this one!"  She finally understands why she can't download the full versions though.

I'll wait for Jessie/janice big_smile  From what I understand Steam is for 32bit isn't it?

{yelling} ... and don't anyone tell my wife about steam ... I'll never get the computer! {/yelling}

Re: Borderlands 2 is coming to linux!

Yeah you need 32-bit libs to use it, but it's nothing excessive!
