Seven at last count ... just kidding, but I get your point.  We were cheering on Mexico in our house.

Re: 2014 - Brasil - FIFA World Cup

Just had a feeling beforehand that England were not going to perform and that Uruguay were going to step up, and that there would be an "England moment" - this happened for U's second goal, the irony of Gerrard's back header to Suarez. We lost count of the number of passes Rooney made to Uruguayan players in the first ten minutes. England have good players, but they don't play as a team, and no great players to counterbalance that problem. See what Chile did to Spain (team) or what CR have done so far.

Would like to see a completely different team put out against CR, everyone who has been on the bench - what have we got to lose?

I am also now fed up of the faking after fouls. be good to see a referee do some serious planned ignoring if not a head injury.

Re: 2014 - Brasil - FIFA World Cup

It will be an interesting dressing room when Liverpool meet up for pre-season training - there were 8 on the pitch for England v Uruguay. And the Liverpool captain made the mistake that let in Liverpool's best player to score!

I'm rooting for Uruguay now smile

I think I'm still in a bit of shock ... I really expected to see England win at least the first round {shaking head}

@ damo and gutterslob -->> lol lol lol lol

You guys crack me up ... but yea, "almost" fits what my wife said:

Some players think they are Hamlet in a Shakespearean play.

. . . and they're playing in the "B" rated theatres. <<-- me

@ damo - laughing so hard by the time #3 rolled around that I missed it ... and had to look again ... that rotton SOB! HAHAHAHA! -- to the ref: "Of course I used his hand, do you think I'd punch myself?" by now I was laughing so hard I totally missed #1 and had to watch it a few times, nearest I can figure, he stubbed his toe on the ball when he kicked it and tried to jump on the other players back.  big_smile

@ gutterslob LOVE the sniper shot!!!

And 100% that's to Messi - we are still in it!

EDIT:  I must say though IMHO Iran played well and should go home head's held high.

Goalkeepers:

1. Is there a rule on how big their gloves can be? Some of them look like Mickey Mouse? (Memories of Brotherly Love by Kenny Everett!) You never see a goalie playing with bare hands any more, not like in the good old days.....

2. Why don't / can't goalies catch the ball anymore, they seem quite content to bat it away or flap at it with the big gloved hands?

We were 'in shock' at the 30 minute mark!  And twitter is not being nice to Brazil either.   I remember the 'riots' and the threats to players lives 4 years ago when Brazil lost out ... I'm not expecting good news out of Brazil this night, but I certainly hope I am as wrong as I can get.

Re: 2014 - Brasil - FIFA World Cup

Speechless is what the Brazilans are at the moment.
Lots of parties happening where I live - they need to drink the beer and eat the meat bought for the victory that never happened.
Political fallout/riots will follow after the final.
