You have version 11,2,202,285 installed
and then what do i do?
I think I removed flagh plugin-nonfree at this point.
I have reinstalled the flash again and it still doesn't work. Sorry for being completely clueless.

At this point I am as clueless as you. Did you try it with a fresh Firefox removing your profile? Did Flash ever worked, did it work with another browser? Do you have a Flash blocker installed.

Hello you 2,
open a terminal, try:
rm -rf ~/.adobe
and reopen FF. Maybe some dirty config file laying around
(Nothing bad will happen)

it didn't do anything. I reopened firefox again and still nothing. The funny thing is before I tried to install flashplugin-nonfree, everything was working, but now even after I remove flashplugin, I still can't watch any youtube videos.
so can you guys tell me how I can go back to watch youtube videos? I dont want the flashplugin anymore.
And, I was redirected to this page when I tried to watch youtube
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p330
so apparently they blocked the add on that I have. I tried update it using the command line in the first page but it still doesn't work.

oh hey guys, I disabled shockwave on my add on and I installed gnash and it now work! Should I do anything else?
should I try to delete gnash and see if it still works?

Seems like there is some bad interaction between the flash player from adobe and the plugin-nonfree.
Fastest way to resolve this is probably a re-install, followed by an install from the adobe site but no flash-plugin-nonfree, unless someone comes up with a better solution.
I see you are still using statler, based on Debian squeeze.
Perhaps this is an opportunity to install the new stable - waldorf - based on Debian wheezy.
Sorry for not being able to offer you a better solution,

If you still want to watch Youtube, you do not need necessarily Flash, you can watch it via HTML5, here:
Of course not all videos will play but most of them.
Edit: Have you enabled click to play maybe? You can disable it:
about:config
from the address bar in Firefox, then type:
plugins.click_to_play
double click and it will switch to false.

^ Oh thanks for this one, Ivan. How I hated "click to play". Notice the simple past

Thank you for this. The Mint replacement one was really annoying, because they call it "Firefox" but went and made some pretty persistent changes to it...

I motion that this thread be stickied, especially since ivanovnegro is taking the time to keep it updated. Thanks for the great how-to, ivanovnegro.

Woo hoo! Happily running Firefox v22 under Waldorf with backports enabled. Some things that I did that weren't covered in your how-to:
01) You may need to manually delete /etc/iceweasel/profile. sudo aptitude purge iceweasel didn't remove that folder because it wasn't empty.
02) I went ahead and deleted the ~/.mozilla folder as well prior to unpacking Firefox, since it probably contained things specific to Iceweasel.

I kept mine without any issues. My mozilla profile is older than my Debian install.

My mozilla profile is older than my Debian install.
Mine dates back to Win 98.

I found this site that shows how to install FF...would this work on Waldorf 11?
Relax...it's only Linux.

^ No, why should you bother with some kind of PPAs, this works better:

Hello the solution i proposed in this topic work fine for me, i just have a sync account in case of something bad happen and on every new version of FF i just unpack in the firefox folder and replace all the file.

Hah! Now I can give back to this wonderful thread. The link that ivanovnegro provides for the 64-bit version of Firefox no longer works. Here's the latest working link to 64-bit Firefox downloads (choose your preferred language):

I'm getting "404 Not Found" error. Are you sure you're trying the 64-bit link and not the 32-bit link? The issue is with the 64-bit link.
Edit: Hmmm...that's weird. I was getting the "404 Not Found" error in the Chrome and Firefox browsers. I just tried the link in Midori and it worked fine.
Edit 2: Just got the same error in the Opera browser. Maybe Mozilla is having server issues?
Edit 3: ...and got the same error in the QupZilla browser.

Just to say that the Stylish extension for Firefox has been updated to 1.4.1 and that some styles maybe affected: http://forum.userstyles.org/discussion/ … ox-1-4-1b1

Now that Australis seems more likely to land in version 29, I wonder if there's any interest in collecting hacks/tweaks. Just to illustrate, here's a question about rearranging a bit of the UI that is no longer possible via the "Customize" pane: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic … &t=2799365
