Installing Handbrake

Tried to update source.list to:

running 3.2.0-0.bpo.3-amd64

## For Handbrake
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org wheezy main non-free

then i updated & installed the media

sudo apt-get install deb-multimedia-keyring  --this worked

but next

sudo apt-get install handbrake-gtk

resulted in this:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
handbrake-gtk : Depends: libdvdnav4 (>= 4.2.0+20120524) but 4.1.3-7 is to be installed
Depends: libfaac0 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 (>= 2.22.0) but it is not installable
Depends: libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.31.8) but 2.24.2-1 is to be installed
Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.24.0) but 2.20.1-2 is to be installed
Depends: libjavascriptcoregtk-1.0-0 (>= 1.5.1) but it is not installable
Depends: libmkv0 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libmp3lame0 (>= 1:3.99.0) but 3.98.4+repack2-3~bpo60+1 is to be installed
Depends: libnotify4 (>= 0.7.3) but it is not installable
Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.6) but 4.4.5-8 is to be installed
Depends: libwebkitgtk-1.0-0 (>= 1.3.10) but it is not installable
Depends: libx264-128 but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

is there an easy answer to this?

Re: Installing Handbrake

Welcome to the forums!

It looks like maybe you are trying to mix Statler Backports with Wheezy repos? That won't work. If you are using Statler then you need Squeeze-compatible repos. Can you post the rest of your sources.list please?

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

Mark as [solved]?

Re: Installing Handbrake

I also would like to confirm that this still works, but would like to add if you want the command line interface version simply type

sudo apt-get install handbrake-cli

So for me it was add the lines

## For Handbrake
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org wheezy main non-free

To my file etc/apt/sources.list

then i typed

sudo apt-get install deb-multimedia-keyring

then I typed

sudo apt-get install handbrake-cli

And for those scared of a ittle cli, here is a great guide to using the handbrake-cli version, its really quite wonderful.

Re: Installing Handbrake

This might seem like nerco-bumping, but it's not...
The first post was from over a year ago, and still relevant.
The last was from six months ago, and relevant.
Just fixed my problem without having to open a new thread based on what was written there, so...
