Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

Now, there appeared another problem (on another machine). With the same identical script now, there appears at any end of a line a square like you can see here in a screenshot:

Bildschirmfoto%20-%2013.08.2013%20-%2023%3A39%3A57.png

What's that? Seems to me like there is shown any <ENTER> in the script . . . ????

Check the editor make sure it it using Unix line endings - not some windows or mac setting.

IE: Geany:

I found it out, something went wrong in transfering the file over the lan.

The url is empty. Do you mean Geany should handle that problem? Frankly, when i put the conkyrc in geany it didn't see anything. Opening and re-editing in nano solved the problem instead. But i'd prefer an editor which makes visible any hidden formatting like return, new line, soft-return etc. Or does geany do that?

In Geany:

edit » preferences » editor - options 2, 3 and 4 under: Display - will do what you want.

but make sure it's using Unix (LF) as mentioned above.

No worries mate.

In Geany, go to Document->Set line endings->Convert and set to LF(Unix)

...or simply do a

sed -i 's/\r$//g' /path//conkyrc

See ... now I totally forgot about the "Convert" .. mine is set that way  --- by default I think.  Good catch.

That little snippet will clean up the line endings?

Good stuff it's a keeper ...

medit does the same: Menu Bar » Document » Line Endings » Unix (LF)   cool

EDITED: Due to the fact that the original line was edited while I was playing the game.  No sense leaving broken code laying around!  :8

Try with the corrected version - see my edited post.

If not again, try with

OK both work.  Interesting and they work in different ways:

with the double //

sed -i 's/\r$//g' /media/5/Conky//S11_Email_1.conky
sed -i 's/\r//g' /media/5/Conky//S11_Email_1.conky

without the double //

sed -i 's/\r$//g' /media/5/Conky/S11_Email_1.conky
sed -i 's/\r//g' /media/5/Conky/S11_Email_1.conky

and this works as well

cd /media/5/Conky
sed -i 's/\r$//g' S11_Email_1.conky
sed -i 's/\r//g' S11_Email_1.conky

It still doesn't change the fact that a persons text editor should be checked to make sure files are saved as: (LF) Unix

sed is a mind blower!  It also means thirsty in Spanish.  Barkeep ... ούζο for my friend here and keep them coming!

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

Arch's version of conky comes with no lua support, you have to install the aur one.
As much as I respect and admire what lua can do on conky, I think it's a bit redundant... (Sorry lua enthusiasts)

You do not need to apologize at all.  Some like the bells and whistles of images and LUA ... ummm ... like me, because I like playing with it.
Others right here at #! don't, and use:

1. - conky-cli - This is a basic package that can be useful in servers or piped with dzen2.
It includes the following support:

  • MPD,

  • MOC,

  • math,

  • apcupsd,

  • ncurses and

  • I/O stats

2. - conky-std - This package should be a good compromise for most users that do not need special features.
It includes the following support:

  • X11,

  • XDamage,

  • XDBE,

  • Xft,

  • MPD,

  • MOC,

  • math,

  • hddtemp,

  • portmon,

  • RSS,

  • Weather,

  • wireless,

  • Imlib2,

  • ALSA mixer,

  • apcupsd,

  • I/O stats,

  • argb,

  • Lua and the cairo and imlib2 lua bindings,

  • Audacious and

  • XMMS2

Standard?  Gee what does conky-all have?

3. - conky-all - This is a full conky with most compile options enabled:

  • X11,

  • XDamage,

  • XDBE,

  • Xft,

  • MPD,

  • MOC,

  • math,

  • hddtemp,

  • portmon,

  • RSS,

  • Weather,

  • wireless,

  • IBM, ********

  • nvidia, ******

  • eve-online, ********

  • Imlib2,

  • ALSA mixer,

  • apcupsd,

  • I/O stats,

  • argb,

  • Lua and the cairo and imlib2 lua bindings,

  • Audacious, and

  • XMMS2

Conky-all has "most" not all!  big_smile

I'd be using standard but I'm a nivida user as well

Obviously the developer likes eve-online.  big_smile

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

@ drxspace

It will require some "tweaking" same as the original.
New - not yet tweaked: 2013_08_18_14_58_35_302x302_Sector11.jpg

But the old one - that is tweaked to my system works just fine (for one: no battery):
2013_08_18_15_05_03_1920x1080_Sector11.jpg

Now you can say:  Tested on #! Waldorf (Debian 7)

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

I did some more playing with farinet's Crunchbang conky and Teo's weather.  Larger font and still under 800 pixels in height.

I don't need Swap - I don't have one but it's there anyway and I added the three CPU's I have to the Average.
2013_08_18_16_32_46_1920x1080_Sector11.jpg
... and there we have it.

Above TEXT you see this line:

xftfont Arial:size=9

That controls the text beside the large image icons of the weather.

Those are controlled below TEXT, in the conkyweather font size=40:

${font conkyweather:size=40}
