Re: July 2013 Screenshot Thread

Question for fluxbox users- How do you handle not having an Alt-Tab popup dialog? I just can't deal, but otherwise seems like a cool wm.

Re: July 2013 Screenshot Thread

Posted my own thread before realizing this was here, so I changed it up a little so it wasn't old news. Still haven't messed with conky, I like my desktop real neat and straightforward so nothing flashy.

I'm going to assume that you're not joking.  It's an xsetroot loop set to break at '#36444f' when I reach the color, I launch my WM.

So, here's the wallpaper, .xinitrc part 1 (before launch) big_smile

#!/bin/bash
until xsetroot -solid '#36444f'; do sleep1;done
xrdb $HOME/.Xdefault
if xsetroot -display :0.1 -solid '#36444f'
then
     AUXDIS=:0.1
else
     AUXDIS=:0
fi
export AUXDIS

<stuff you want to launch here>

Since I'm almost certain that you're joking, then get on my level...son!  Anyone can use nautilus or feh to set a background image.  It takes a full-blown autist to use bash.  cool

If you have wmctrl and zenity installed you can try this:

wmctrl -ia `wmctrl -l | cut -d' ' -f1,4- | zenity --list --column Window | cut -d' ' -f1`

map it to a key binding - either directly or in a script and it will show a popup dialog; downside is that it shows all open apps, not desktop specific like the WorkspaceMenu that pops up with mouse button 2 on the desktop:

July_1373683395_1366x768.jpg

There is also a program called superswitcher which I have never used.

@Packrat - Thanks for answering my question - I think my initial reaction to the missing feature was poor, scrambling to emulate the familiar winXP behavior. Alt-tab w/o a popup is fine *with distinguishing win-decs and/or overlapping windows.

My personal thought are - what works for you is good. Just trying to add a bit of humour to it.

I was in your shoes once, I used Comic Sans for something in a screenshot and got almost the same reaction.  I never realized there was such a controversy over the font.  I do agree that it should not be used in a business memo, but that's a personal opinion, even though it seems that some do.

monofur I found while looking for a nice 'mono' font that didn't forget the number "1" - there a lot of mono fonts that i and m&w are the same but when it comes to the number '1'... oops!  I use monofur in my conkys - and OB Menu! - I like it.  It's not one of those boring - ho-hum I'm in the office fonts!

United we're 1984 - divided we're individuals! cool

If I ever caught a motorcycle manufacturer using Comical Sans, you'd be seeing me in the news, getting arrested for setting fire to all their factories.

lol   lol   lol

Back in the 80's I walked into a German Gasthaus, I lived upstairs, and it was full of bikers, huge rough Satan's Choice; Hell's Angles looking guys, long hair, tattoos, muscled like they pumped iron and beer-bellies, wearing their "colours"!  Not wanting to mess with them I sat where the owner/bartender indicated, in a corner window seat at the front!

Let me tell you .... there was no Comic Sans there!

But gutter, when they left I just about peed myself!!!!  To a man they left on little 50cc mopeds! I was laughing so hard, as they came around the corner from the back I just about spit my beer all over the front window of the Gasthaus.

My gnome desktop. Trying, unsuccessfully, to use AWN for the systray rather than the gnome-shell notification setup. I can make the gnome stuff disappear, but it's just visual, the process still exists so AWN won't do it.

Anyway, my submission for screenshots. This is my current setup (Conky, and wallpaper). Wallpaper is modified but not originally drawn by me. Anyway, I hope everyone likes it.
