I've been using Slackware for many years and have finally decided to install a completely different distro with my new desktop build. So, this is a hello to everyone on here!
I am loving the sleek feel by the way!

Welcome from a fellow slacker! As you are used to editing text files for configuration, like a true *nix user, you'll do just fine.

Welcome, TheV. Hmm...I'd be interested to hear what you think about CrunchBang/Debian versus Slackware. Isn't Slackware more of a bleeding-edge distro?
07/04/2013-01 edit: Never mind. I just checked a review on www.distrowatch.com and Slackware is not bleeding-edge.

Running Slackware-current is pretty bleeding edge. Not Arch bleeding edge, but still fairly bloody.

Is Slackware-current kind of like Debian Testing/Unstable? I see they're using a more current kernel than what Debian Unstable provides.

Slackware-current would be akin to running Sid, but the kernel and packages are more current than Sid, generally.

Hello TheV from another Slackware user and welcome to the forums. Re. the Current branch, I would second JWJones. It's really well up to date currently (oops), only a little behind Arch but very stable. A good option. Current has sometimes been more conservative in the past, around the 11-12.2 versions, but in the last few years it has been very cutting edge.
