Is there a sticky note application for crunchbang like this one.

I want the notes to appear automatically when the computer starts up.

Bing/Google/DuckDuckGo are your friends...

The last I knew, Tomboy used Mono, an opensource version of Microsoft's C# programming language. Mono is quite large and I recently read something to the effect that perhaps development has/will cease on Mono. Things to keep in mind should you choose Tomboy.

I know it's a bit different to what you asked, but it might fit your purpose better: I use the rememberthemilk.com website and display the notes via conky. The advantage is that your notes are online so you can access them as long as you have an internet connection. Drawback is that you need an internet connection and edit your notes via a browser.
I love #! more than my own kids. I told them and they sympathized.

Not to mention possible security and/or privacy issues...

For security I guess it's as dangerous as using a web browser. For privacy, it is true that there is a risk that my "call Mom tonight about birthday present" note might be leaked out to the public by some hackers. But I like to live dangerously
...still you are right Krunchtime, some people write sensitive/personal info in their notes so it can be an issue. In any case sepapalta's answer is much more likely to help the OP than my suggestion.
