[Solved] Pointer is dissappearing.

Hey Hey,

I have just started using jessie, uprgraded to the latest liquorix kernel and updated my nvidia driver. Now, when I click on something my pointer dissappears.  This more an aesthetic issue, but I would like to be able to see my pointer.  The pointer also flickers when I scroll.

Is this a driver issue? I have never had this issue before.

Thanks!

Re: [Solved] Pointer is dissappearing.

Hey all,

here is the error from the sgfxi.log.

-> Cleaning kernel module build directory.
   executing: 'cd ./kernel; make clean'...
-> Building kernel module:
   executing: 'cd ./kernel; make module SYSSRC=/lib/modules/3.8-13.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64/build SYSOUT=/lib/modules/3.8-13.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64/build'...
   NVIDIA: calling KBUILD...
   test -e include/generated/autoconf.h -a -e include/config/auto.conf || (		\
   	echo >&2;							\
   	echo >&2 " ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalid."; \
   	echo >&2 "         include/generated/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are missing.";\
   	echo >&2 " Run 'make oldconfig && make prepare' on kernel src to fix it.";	\
   	echo >&2 ;							\
   	/bin/false)

So i am unsure of what to do now?

Re: [Solved] Pointer is dissappearing.

The kernel installed correctly.  I think I am getting close, but no joy. I am noticing other issues from not having the proper driver.

Spugna, the last time I built new kernels, I updated my chroot's to their latest packages. It looks to have been in the middle of a glibc upgrade, so unless you're running Debian Unstable, you might get some oddities with package dependencies. If you wait a bit longer, testing may sync up, but that's probably 1-2 weeks away from when the first packages dropped.

That latest liquorix kernel is built against a libc6 that is not yet available in Debian sid.
You won't be able to use that kernel until debian has upgraded its libc6 in sid/testing.
Revert to a previously working kernel and eventually re-compile the nvidia kernel module against that kernel.

I will put out a warning for other users following testing or sid repo.

Cheers

Thanks xaos52!  Sorry about laying this all out poorly!  How did you know to look for libc6?  Teach a man to fish!

Re: [Solved] Pointer is dissappearing.

scripts/basic/fixdep: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by scripts/basic/fixdep)

This line in the info you posted.
Then I googled for 'scripts/basic/fixdep: ... ' and found the thread on techpatterns.

Cheers
