fsck died with exit status 8. failed code (8). log file created /var/log/fsck/checkfs. Please repair the file system manually
I'm getting this at boot ...and i am lost as can be regarding fsck. It started happening after installing lubuntu 13.04 beta 2 on a different (primary) partition **irrelevant, i think ~ yeah?**, and after updating && upgrading my Waldorf install on Sunday night **relevant?**
no resizing or creating of new partitions took place, and when i manually run...
# fsck -t ext3 /dev/sda5
...in the root terminal that it dumps me in, it just reports that the crunchbang partition is 'clean'. ...what does that mean as I was expecting a number (hopefully a '1')?
Thanks for any help,
*lost in space*

Post the content of the created log file:
/var/log/fsck/checkfs

Cheers okubax,
i just did that and indeed the UUID's for sda1 are different in fstab to the one reported from blkid. sda1 is the lubuntu partition.
So, i know it's not a failing HDD at least, but how may i get the numbers to tally? Can i just change the details in fstab?
Many thanks!
add:
I did the manual edit and no longer get the error 8 on boot
Thanks folks for the help - i was verging on doing a reinstall
