[Solved] deinstalling firefox and reinstalling new firefox

In the past I have installed firefox on my system but there has been a new release.

Problem is: I have installed it in a way I can't figure out. I did it according to instructions of some website.

I ran the command: sudo locate firefox:
/usr/bin/firefox
/usr/lib/firefox/
/home/ecmporter/.mozilla/firefox

These are the directories the firefox-files are located in. I tried to remove them with: gksudo thunar. But the files returned just the same.
