Re: Updated Waldorf "Testing" images: 20120924

@corenominal: Philip I just did an aptitude update on my existing Waldorf system and there is no upgrades available for crunchbang specific packages...Is this correct? Am I not supposed to get the updated packages of this last image?

corenominal wrote:

@384403, the previous files were still using '<execute>', which has now been replaced with '<command>'. For more information, please see: http://openbox.org/wiki/Help:Actions#Execute

There are a few other small changes: eg in rc.xml:
*) under <placement>, <primaryMonitor>1</primaryMonitor> is added.
*) <font place="OnScreenDisplay"> is split into <font place="ActiveOnScreenDisplay"> and <font place="InactiveOnScreenDisplay">
*) In keybindings for desktop switching the syntax changed slightly.
This

<keybind key="C-A-Left">
      <action name="DesktopLeft">
        <dialog>no</dialog>
        <wrap>no</wrap>
      </action>
    </keybind>

became this:

<keybind key="C-A-Left">
    <action name="GoToDesktop"><to>left</to><wrap>no</wrap></action>
  </keybind>

*) Under  <!-- Keybindings for window switching -->,
this:

<keybind key="A-Tab">
      <action name="NextWindow"/>
    </keybind>

becomes this:

<keybind key="A-Tab">
      <action name="NextWindow">
      <finalactions>
        <action name="Focus"/>
        <action name="Raise"/>
        <action name="Unshade"/>
      </finalactions>
      </action>
    </keybind>

*) <action name="ToggleMaximizeFull"/> becomes <action name="ToggleMaximize"/>
*) Some extra comments not present in the older files were added (and wrongly changed in one place neutral ), and some capitalization changed to match the openbox template in /etc/xdg/openbox.

It's pretty trivial stuff and all the actual settings are the same. smile

Re: Updated Waldorf "Testing" images: 20120924

@johnraff, thank you.

@Milozzy, I worked on the #! packages last week, so if you have kept your system up-to-date, you would have already installed them. Also, the main purpose of building the new images was to update the installer, so there was not too much to change in the way of packages.

Thank you! I remember some updates...I just wanted to see in details the changes in the rc file.
Anyway I check my /etc/skel/.config/openbox/autostart and it does not include the fix for gnome keyring...it shows:

## GNOME PolicyKit and Keyring
(\
/usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 && \
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --components=ssh && \
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --components=secrets && \
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --components=pkcs11 && \
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --components=gpg \
) &

and not

## GNOME PolicyKit and Keyring
eval $(gnome-keyring-daemon -s --components=pkcs11,secrets,ssh,gpg) &

Same for the rc.xml that does not shows the modifications of johnraf.

And what about the example templates for thunar? Where can I find them?

Thanks!

Re: Updated Waldorf "Testing" images: 20120924

I just tried the live mode of the i686 version of the new iso and ran into the situation, that some things aren't allowed, like clicking on a network connection to activate it, or clicking in thunar on a separate partition icon.

@Milozzy, the contents of /etc/skel are currently included at build time as I have yet to build the config package for Waldorf. I was planning on doing it later in the cycle, but I will take a look at putting it together this week.

this is my first post here and I want to congratulate corenominal for all his hard work. I use crunch from almost 1 year and is really nice.
this last update work very smooth and nice. only one problem I saw, after the first start and make all the updates and restart, tint2 don't start, need a restart from the menu.
this problem was even in version 20120806.
congratulation again wink

I have the same problem only with the 32 bit i486 version (nonPAE).  I couldn't connect to wireless: fault read

not authorized to contol networking

I worked around it by searching the forums, found a previous thread similar.

sudo nm-connection-editor

with password "live" got me a working nm-applet and could add my network and password.

Then I plugged my usb external hard drive in, thunar sees it fine but when I try to click it:

failed to mount Elements: Not authorized.

It sure it handsome though.  I like the slightly changed look.  Looking forward to using it.

@kernel, interesting, I did not experience these issues when I tested the builds, before making them available. I will do some more testing and try to replicate.

@kernel: can you check

apt-cache policy policykit-1-gnome

if it's "installed"?

Here is workaround for authorization problem, "the yes solution", see p2;

http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … arddrives/

But if I remember correctly it now were in line 38. This were not a problem in the previous builds.

I think this is a mistake, as the mirrors are far faster, you are basically flooding the main repo. The Debian installation recommends a mirror based on the country you've selected. This would be good for the #! installation also.

Not a mistake, but agreed, it is not ideal. The next builds will use the new redirector service available at: http://http.debian.net/ smile

Also, I think I have found an issue with the latest builds which could warrant a quick turnaround. Nothing to worry about, investigating now.
