Thunar all the time.

PCManFM, though I don't recommend it.
I do most of my file operations through the terminal and mainly use PCManFM to explore my directory structures from a GUI.
Thunar has too many dependencies for me.
SpaceFM isn't included in any of the repositories I use and PCManFM does what I want so I have no need for it. I refuse to compile a file manager or manually update it. I'm already having to compile MPlayer2, SMPlayer, WINE and a couple other minor applications.

mc. Though zsh's awesome autocompletion features, makes me rarely use it these days.

Time to move on!#

how did the OP get on with emelFM?
I used it in tinycore, reminded me of OPusDIr (or similar) on the Amiga.
if it's over the network (ssh) obviously cmd line...
I am still using mostly SpacFm out of habit - must try out EmelFM more - love it's speed of starting up, like the icons in the bar between the panes for copying from one pane to the other and symlinking etc, like the command line input at the bottom - must get to know it more.

ChikenPie4Tea: that would be version 0.4.x?
well, it wasn't hard at all (on waldorf), basic stuff, no plugins (emelfm2-0.8.1.tar.bz2):
sudo apt-get install libmagic-dev
make
sudo make install
edit: its really nice, but would need quite a lot of time to actually make it work as it should with waldorf defaults (you know like viewnior and terminator and whatnot, some places also seems to miss tab completition ..., will try more.)

I remember I built a later version but didn't like how it worked - just didnt work right on my system so I felt I must have done something wrong - that's why I used the older version and .deb install 2.0.4-1 and it worked much better and looked better to me.

PCManFM (ver. 0.9.10) - works flawlessly so, can't be bothered to try different managers.

I use PCManFM on my laptop, which runs Crunchbang and Dolphin on my Desktop, which runs Kubuntu. I like both file manager very much in their respective environment.

Currently playing around with vifm, pretty good so far even though I kinda miss ranger's preview feature. What do you guys think about it?

Wow, sunflower looks promising. I will watch this project, it might surpass doublecmd one day.
EDIT: I just discovered vifm.
- cli
- vi bindings
- two-pane
- can view zip files via fuse-zip

I'm so meta, even this acronym
Offline
PCManFm-Mod - daily work
Doublecmd - larger F5/F6 (copy/move) operations
PCManFm 1.0 - mount seldom used smb-shares
mc - when X won't start...
Offline
For daily work Emacs:
- dired
- sunrise
mc - when X won't start too.
