What and where is this pointing to in the right place?

im using in this case arclance's script and i put it in my home folder

Post the conkyrc you are using with my script so I can see if you have set it up correctly.

im using the one you provided, i just changed the lua load directory unless i shouldnt do that, i prefer to leave me conkyrc alone until im sure that what i want to add works

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

@ saren89
I am back from dinner, glad to see you got it working.
What was wrong with the files?
Did you not make all the changes outlined in the readme?
What changes did you make to get them to work?

I assume you recompiled them by killing the python and conky processes, making changes to the scripts, and then restarting the python script and the conky.
Is that correct?

i made all the changes as in the readme, i dont remember what i needed with lua but when i installed python 3 it took over the python command which i forget about and your script was set to 2.7.  other then that i didnt make any changes to your script to get them to work
i need to start writing down what i change so i know what to do if things dont work.

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

^ Yes the python script won't work with python3.
I know they changed the API for urllib2, popen, and try enough that it's not compatible.
There might be other changes as well but I have not looked into using python3 yet so I don't know them all.

If you remember what you did please post it here so I can see if it was a problem with the scripts or readme that I need to correct.

considering that after recompiling lua normally your script works fine its probably not something with your script but how i compiled lua. i went over the options for lua and i cant remember which one i  used or why, if i find out i did i will let you know.

Heads up - ears plugged: HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ELDER!

Here's my new one ... not really finished yet, I have some free space under the currency rates.

The cronograph.lua and draw-bk.lua are a few pave back, and you need mrpeachy's v9000 lua weather for this as well.  The wall is in prep for falldown's upcoming masterpiece:

The conky:

Glad to have helped.  big_smile

lol lol I hope I'm around to see it.  I almost missed the latest Star Trek movie, the one where that had just joined StarFleet.  It never came here, or at least I didn't see it advertised.  Had to have a friend send it to me.

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

^ Good, it took awhile to do because there are a lot of scripts for that one.
I worked on it all week when I had the time to do it.

I also cleaned up some of the slow code that was leftover from when I was learning lua while I was at it.
That squeezed about 0.5% more cpu out of the script.

Be sure to watch the movie there are a couple of invisible buttons that you will see there.

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

^ Thanks.
I wish the conky devs would finish fixing the memory leak in all top variables.
It makes this script leak memory and there is nothing I can do about it.

As conky leaks memory it uses more cpu power, I think due to memory fragmentation.

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

Again, I'm struggling at something trivial, but can't figure it out.
How can I run TWO Conkys at the same time?
They are both using the whole screen (overlaping one another). One has refresh of 1, the other 5. I am using Debian, Openbox. I know how to run it, but either I don't see the second one, or I don't see either of them.
It has to do something with "own_window_type", etc... but so far, I haven't found the "right" combination.
Any help ?

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

Rule of thumb: don't overlap Conkys

But I'm baffled... why two full screen Conkys?

Now I'm screwed.

One for "dynamic" stuff like clocks, meters, etc., the second one for more CPU intense things like execs, texecs which don't need so many refreshes.

Maybe I'll cram it to one Conky. I was only curious if it is possible.
