- it's fast as hell (I tried it first on a usb flash, with live session, and couldn't believe how fast it was, on a usb flash)
- stable (and by that I mean really stable)
- minimalistic (with the most important things, no bloat)
- works out of the box
thanks Philip

Tried because - Solid rep., appealing look, Debian repos...
Will keep using because - Speed, low resource use, clean / minimalist approach, superb functionality, and it's fun to use.
People don't think it be like it is, but it do.

I use Crunchbang because it makes perfect sense for my Asus 901 EEE PC. I use Gentoo on all my other computers, but compiling all source code on the 901 just is not practical.

I use Crunchbang because of its simple design and fast performance.
I have an aging desktop machine that I don't want to throw away yet.
CrunchBang to the rescue!
Plus, installation works without mucking around, unlike official Debian.
I want to muck around after the install, not during

Why I use Crunchbang:
As with many of us, my first distro was Ubuntu. From there I went to debian. Debian, in my opinion, is the best GNU/Linux distribution out there. I grew curious of Arch because of the rave reviews and how "you get what you want, nothing more, nothing less." After I tried and tried and tried I couldn't ever get it to work right. So I tried A! and I fell head over heals in love with the Openbox interface! It looked so cool, and almost futuristic. I'm used to a panel with a "start menu". I had no idea there were GUI's/shells/DE's where you right click and your menu to access your programs/apps. I still get goose pimples at the idea, lol. But alas, A! was waaay too buggy for me. And because A! is inspired but #!, I decided to give it a try. Lo and behold! It's based off of Debian! My favorite distro! But with my favorite interface!
Thus began my love affair with this distro. I don't think I will be leaving for quite sometime.
All hail the Grand Garboozle!

I use Crunchbang because:
- my notebook doesn't get as hot as it does with Ubuntu (60 °C VS 75-80 °C)
- i am used to apt-get, deb packages and so on, me being an ex ubuntu user
- its way faster than ubuntu
- it uses openbox
- it's got a clever startup script
- it's lightweight but it does it all
- it looks cool and its name is even cooler

In no particular order:
- Coolest distro name evar.
- Looks really geeky, especially with a lot of terminals open.
- It gets out of my way when I want it to. No extra chrome to distract. It has the simplicity I want from a tiling window manager but with normal key commands.
- Debian Testing.
- The community comes up with cool hacks like dunst and crunchbox.
- Crunchbang makes my Thinkpad x200 feel like a new laptop.

I use #! because it makes my Elonex Webbook work where about 10 other distros failed.
The people here in the #! community are great and very helpful, which is why I stick around.

I needed a lightweight but cool debian-based distro for my spare computer. #! is all of it! :-D
I have also tried antiX before #!, and it is pretty nice, too. But the community here seems to be much friendlier. :-)

fastest cleanest way to get a sweetly working out-of-the-box system with just enough more than "just enough" to make pleasant. the perfect fully-working base system.
a lot of the "crunchbang inspired" distros are either too sparce (e.g. kwort) or overkill on the fickle stuff (archbang). phillip strikes the balance well every time. minimal where minimal is needed. features where features are needed.
crunchbang is still my "go to" distro

I'am just starting, but :
a. no office installed by default convinced me on the 1st go.
a2. no instant messengers and facebook related stuff installed by default (i did not find any so far) = great
b. for some reason i find gnome3 & friends unconvincing
c. 0% cpu usage when idle
d. nice looking default desktop
e. want the same system on my eee and on my support pcs and this looks like it could do a trick
f. i dont want to build a system from scratch
g. Certain popular distros are moving in a completely wrong directions (only my opinion) - edit: basically this comes to one point only: no, i will not wait 3 seconds to open a menu/window/software manager/whatever
h. i like the sound of "Debian"
i. openminded community
j. very nice selection of default tools (including chromium)
k. i don't want to see any "store" type of apps in my nix boxes, i mean come on ... advertise with banners on web, where i can ignore or ban them or something (I could live with search engine revenues)
l. i needed something a lil more hardcore, as part of my job is nix server administration (basic stuff, but still...)
m. bragging rights

After spending two years with Debian-GNOME I started to think it was too much bloat for me, so while searching info on how to customize a very minimal Debian install in a light-weighted fashion, I found this forum.
Well, #! is just what I was aiming to for my desktop...it was love at first install...
Needless to say that it is light on resources, minimal but complete and soooo cool!! Probably what I like more is the fact that everything can be customized with a fun learning process..
Last but not least: the people in this forum are just great! To cite rhowaldt's (and others) signature We are a nice, friendly community here and I hope we stay that way..

- Fast startup (fastest I have used so far).
- Doesnt use too much RAM. (I get ~70-80MB when idle).
- Fast. Perfect for my EeePC.
- Very simple and clean.
- Not too much applications pre-installed. I can add if I want.
- Forces me to use the terminal, which I like because I get to learn more.
- Forces me to configure using the configuration files, instead of a GUI, which is what I like, because I get to learn more.
- Cool name - #!.
- Great community, and very friendly too! I don't post much, but I visit a lot. Anytime I have a question in mind, it's a question that has been asked by someone before, and someone already solved.

I use it because it is fast, minimalistic and already has the vast majority of apps that I require. Frankly, it is everything I want in an OS.

Well, I got an old laptop with 2GHz Sempron processor.
I was looking something more "slim" than ubuntu for OS, and so I found crunchbang
At first glance, I like it a lot!
Crunchbang runs fast and was easy to install.
