Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

Hi guys,  I was wondering if someone could point me in he right direction in regards to getting Conky to check my pop3 email account, it's not a Gmail account so it would have to be configurable for any pop3 account and not just Gmail.

Thanks in advance. wink

I use conkyemail_2.13_all.deb (a newer version, v2.14, requires conkyKeyring that I can't get working with #! Debian). I use it with two accounts, had four, but dropped two.  I beta tested this python app from the beginning with Ubuntu, Xubuntu and have used it in every version of #! since v9.04.

the math for working out clicks is a little more complex here

i was bored with all those straight, rectangular launchers, so i wanted to make a curvey one... need to add the text and the execute commands

its a little slow as it is based on the conky cycle time of 1 second

what do you need to write a gui menu system anyway?? big_smile

conkyEmail v.2.13

yes, with some alterations

outside and above the main function you need start=1

require 'cairo'
start=1

function conky_main()

then in the main function you call the clickfunction

localx,localy=clickfunction()

and the clickfunction itself goes below the main function

function clickfunction()
--start click logging and calculations ##########################################
if start==1 then
xdot=conky_parse("${if_running xdotool}1${else}0${endif}")
if tonumber(xdot)==1 then
os.execute("/usr/bin/killall xdotool && echo 'xdo killed' &")
end
os.execute("xdotool search --name clicky behave %@ mouse-click getmouselocation >> /tmp/xdo &")
start=nil
local f = io.popen("xwininfo -name 'clicky' | grep 'Absolute'")
geometry = f:read("*a")
f:close()
geometry=string.gsub(geometry,"[\n]","")
s,f,abstlx=string.find(geometry,"X%p%s*(%d*)")
s,f,abstly=string.find(geometry,"Y%p%s*(%d*)")
end--if start=1 ######################################
--click calculations #################################
local f=io.open("/tmp/xdo")
click=f:read()
f:close()
if click~=nil then
local f = io.open("/tmp/xdo","w")
f:write("")
f:close()
end--if click=nil
if click==nil then click="x:0 y:0 " end
s,f,mousex=string.find(click,"x%p(%d*)%s")
s,f,mousey=string.find(click,"y%p(%d*)%s")
mousex=tonumber(mousex)
mousey=tonumber(mousey)
localx=mousex-abstlx
localy=mousey-abstly
--END CLICK CALCULATIONS #################################
return localx,localy
end--function

then you have to set up your buttons

--cpubutton button
local cpubuttonx=10.5
local cpubuttony=10.5
local cpubuttonw=30
local cpubuttonh=16
local cpubuttononc={1,0,0,1}
local cpubuttonoffc={1,1,1,1}
if localx>=cpubuttonx and localx<=cpubuttonx+cpubuttonw and localy>=cpubuttony and localy<=cpubuttony+cpubuttonh and cpubutton~=1 then cpubutton=1 elseif localx>=cpubuttonx and localx<=cpubuttonx+cpubuttonw and localy>=cpubuttony and localy<=cpubuttony+cpubuttonh and cpubutton==1 then cpubutton=0 end
if cpubutton==1 then cairo_set_source_rgba (cr,cpubuttononc[1],cpubuttononc[2],cpubuttononc[3],cpubuttononc[4]) else cairo_set_source_rgba (cr,cpubuttonoffc[1],cpubuttonoffc[2],cpubuttonoffc[3],cpubuttonoffc[4]) end;cairo_set_line_width (cr,1);cairo_rectangle (cr,cpubuttonx,cpubuttony,cpubuttonw,cpubuttonh);cairo_stroke (cr)

but each button has to have a unique name, and unique variable names within the code chunk

so for each button chunk i have a chunk saved in a separate text file
and do a search and replace

search - cpubutton

replace - otherbutton

then copy and paste the renamed chunk to where you want it

then have

if cpubutton==1 then
--do something
end

also, the code hasnt been optimized in any way (localizing of variables etc), it only works smile

Re: Conky v1.9 Thread

@olivakrk..

Here's everything.

The wallpaper and theme is by Gutterslob, the link below has some of his creations, they are very good.

http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … t-gallery/

The theme I'm using is his 'Interlace Blue' you can download it from the link below:

http://www.mediafire.com/?mnjyjxjmhmy

There are instructions included in the details text file included.

Below is a link to my public dropbox folder where you can download the Conky files, sorry thought it was rather a lot to copy and paste, the post would have gone on forever.  lol

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30393148/Conkyr … pts.tar.gz

Obviously the Conky's for the shortcut keys will have to be amended to suit your setup.

I only have a dual core system, so you may have to add or remove as necessary.  The percentage of use changes colour from blue to orange at 50% and to red at 90%.

My Internet Conky is setup to alternate between WiFi and Wired depending on which is has an IP address and should display 'NO INTERNET' if none.

The MEM/Hard Drive Conky is for a separate / and /partion, you can edit obviously if your setup is different.

I think that's everything, any questions feel free to ask.  big_smile

Regards kri5

EDIT: correct links posted, sorry!

^ That's what i tried to do (i think), but i wasn't able to copy a link to the folder containing the conkyrc files, i could only do the individual files within the folder or am i missing something?  This is the first time i've tried using Dropbox in this way.

The links have been corrected now.

actually its kind of messy coding and/or it probably could have been done alot easier or differently. im sure i can clean it up some actually ill take this as an assignment to properly comment it n all. its all 1 conkyrc i had trouble breaking it up into different conkys for example the fonts wouldnt work when i had it split in 2 conkys, it was weird testing each conky file on its own the fonts would show fine but when ran togther  it would show  a regular default font.

^ That's what i tried to do (i think), but i wasn't able to copy a link to the folder containing the conkyrc files, i could only do the individual files within the folder or am i missing something?  This is the first time i've tried using Dropbox in this way.

The links have been corrected now.

I do it this way

Create the archive

move/copy it to /home/your username/Dropbox/Public

Start Dropbox

Right click on Dropbox Icon and select Launch Dropbox Website

Go to the Public Folder

Right click on the Archive that is now in Public Folders and select Copy Public Link

Hahhahaha yes we do, but as I said a few pages back:

Conkystadors Anonymous (CA) is a One Step Program:

Step 1
Admitted that we were powerless over conky and don't care.  We gather here to collect new powerful, baffling and exciting ideas.

So you're in good hands!

Show us the code, maybe someone can split it up onto 2-3-4-5 conkys.  OR who cares as I said on the same page, different post:

EDIT: correct links posted, sorry!

Really hate to be the bearer of bad news but as mrpeachy found out DropBox doesn't sit well with "text" files, maybe because of LUA coding, not sure.  Why not do as VastOne suggested and archive then all into one file and send, for example, kri5_conkys.tar.gz to DropBox.

Also CPU 2 is still pointing to the wrong place:
CPU 2:  http://www.mediafire.com/?mnjyjxjmhmy

In Thunar, hold down the [Ctrl] key select all the files you want, and right click and select "Create Archive"  Easy!
