Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

i love this thread, bit annoyed about omp disappearing, 8.( I wouldn't want the OP's to have to re-upload their scrots (if they have them still)
i don't fancy running all these xdefaults to make up some scrots,  (although I might, that would need everyone to edit their own posts, or something)

so anyway i noticed this super dandy website last night, thought i'd share, and i noticed many here had already shared their work. it's a great quick visual way of clocking a nice scheme. I was thinking of adding (once i've worked github out smile  ) a massive slew of configs from here.... obviously the author/s would be in the comments

Thoughts?

^ @github, yes, good to learn and use.  Actually pretty good thing to know and fun
@sharing, there is also dotshare.it

this new site you found looks definitely pretty cool and clean way to share.

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

our definitions of fun vary slightly 8) but it was quite easy and exciting to fork a repo!
dotshare is very rich in configs, enough to get me lost.
as this xcolors site is a script rendering the colours, I thought about. different scripts need to get down with the python first.

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

i guess  lol
thanks, i just c/ped them. (after, i did think about a nice script, but by the time i'd have got round to making it...it was done)
i have the feeling, and it's only a feeling - he might have moved on a bit. he's very busy.
but its such a nice way to look at colours, i mailed him asking to perhaps expand it, my thoughts on how (hoping he'd maybe do it) he just said, go for it (with a few obvious stipulations)
hah

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

What does xDefaults do?

Can I set my mouse cursor size here? If so how. One issue I am having with my mom (who has trouble seeing the standard mouse), is that she would like to have a larger mouse cursor as well as a  different mouse cursor color. Is this possible in #!?

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

I am new to all of this stuff so I was wondering if there is info on what .xdefaults, .xresourses and urxvt's are and why I would consider modifying them. I'm not quite sure what the posts above are doing? Is this a way to customize the X environment? Is there something simple I can try out so that I can get the hang of this?

Thanks!!

@rmcellig
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_resources
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/X_resources
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Rxvt-unicode

The posts above are essentially displaying colors 0 -15  (8 standard + 8 bold) that your terminal emulator employs. It's probably a bit confusing if you've started reading this thread from the beginning, since most of the posters used omploader.org to display images and omploader got shutdown recently.

Re: Post your .Xdefaults and terminal apps colorschemes with screenshot

ho!
just spent the whole morning playing with the colors submitted here -
colors are magic. code is coming to life. respect to all contributors.

i have a problem i'd like to ask help with.

i really like to have a medium-gray background, like

*background: #4d4d4d

- doesn't have to be exactly, but about.

with such a bg it's really hard to get all other colors evenly expressive (i also don't like my colors screaming at me).

maybe you have stumbled upon a theme that matches my demands? or even made one yourself?
(i haven't sifted through the whole thread, kind of a pita with most screenshot links dead)

thanks!
