Feeling a bit nostalgic, I went looking for some of my home town bands from my teenage years. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that this video had over 2,400,000 views. Didn't realize they were known much outside of Canada because even at home they're fame was short lived.

So yeah, this was part of the Vancouver scene when I was 17 years old. Fun times.

^ Triumph is one of my favorite power trios, and probably has a bigger fanbase in America than in Canada. (Their music is frequently on Muzak's Classic Rock playlists. ) I love songs about the power of music, and their song "Magic Power" is a great example of this.

Since pvsage liked that last one I'll post another song from my home town. This one is from, I think, 1968, when I was only 6 years old.

Every time I hear it I think about my childhood and how in the poor low rent neighborhood we lived in, we were surounded by hippies. My folks, having their heads filled with propganda from the TV news, always warned me to stay away from "those dirty hippies". Of course that made me want to know what all the fuss was about, so when Mom thought I was "out playing" I was often at the park down the road hanging out with the hippies and listening to their music, and their discussions of philosophy, society and politics.
Did they have a lasting influence on my young impressionable mind? Read my sig and see for yourself. ]:D
For those who don't care about any of that, just listen to the song. It's a rather haunting and soft psychedelic number. Quite nice.
