Re: Your current Uptime

To many power failures to even consider leaving it up over night, let alone weeks on end.

Hadn't a power cut in age, but an good back-UPS APC is really a great salvation O:) if power cut doesn't last long.

Power cuts in Buenos Aires do tend to last hours, and sometimes even several days. At the end of 2013 there were people that lost power for over 2 months.

Re: Your current Uptime

I have a small UPS - gives me 10-15 minutes time to close and shut down things properly. Now I dea what happened Thursday, nice day, no rain not hot (air conditioners) and OOPS - 4 hours no power in mid day!

Had to buy that when they build "Tecnopolis" near us - since then we have power failures and brownouts all too often.   mad

Re: Your current Uptime

@ IP - Yea, most we had was 48 hours but it spanned the evening of day one and the morning of day three.  In that respect I consider ourselves lucky.  But it's the number of times it happens. mad   And we took the bin from the bottom of the Fridge, put two bags of ICE in it and out it in the freezer.  When the power goes out, it acts as a Fridge ... for a while longer than the fridge.  Pwer comes back, the melted ice returns to ice.

Today is a good day! ... there is a reason I keep that link.

Re: Your current Uptime

On my server about a month before the reinstall:

# uptime 18:13:51 up 579 days, 21:24, 1 user, load average: 0.10, 0.08, 0.05

Reinstall was with more than 600 days uptime. Prior to that, I had over 300 days, but rebooted it due to a sudo reboot in the wrong terminal window. Stupid, I know...
On my desktop (just now):

boisei0@irwin ~ $ uptime
 20:13:32 up 7:38, 2 users, load average: 0.35, 0.50, 0.58

On the server again (just now):

 20:18:27 up 78 days, 22:42, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.05

Re: Your current Uptime

Very nice boisei0 at server big_smile
Just one question...

Because i never use Server, on my home computer i daily use for everthing needed as a home end-user, and i restart once a month (
for years this habit) smile

Do you get update for server?
Ofcourse Linux never force for restart, but I shoot with this question to understand how does the Servers updating without breaking throug the year?

Thank you!

Re: Your current Uptime

Hmm... Htop says

86 days, 21+ hrs Load average 0.81 0.68 0.73

oh, fluctuating, went up to 0.89 0.70 0.75 while I was typing this.

That's my main desktop. Shutting down any time now for a fresh install of Jessie.
We'll see how long that one stays up.
