[Solved] How is BunsenLabs developed? will it be based on jessie?

Hello guys, are you developing BunsenLabs on top of the coming stable Jessie? How are you developing it? is there any prototype system installed somewhere on your computers? How can I give it a shot?

It is all being developed right here on the forums and on the GitHub page.

Some linky goodness for you:

EDIT: Yes, it will be based on Debian Jessie.

Thanks, then I won't be hasty and wait for Debian Jessie to come out so BunsenLabs will be ready. I can't wait to see the first installation script  roll

^ Actually, it's already available, it's just not officially stable.  You might consider trying your hand at the Wally Net Install how-to put together by johnraff if you're itching to try out Jessie.

No that is not true.  There is no BunsenLabs available yet in any form.

And johnraff has stated several times in his thread, Wally Net Install how-to is not Bunsen, it's simply Debian8 (Jessie) with a few options to make it "look like" Waldorf,  but since it is Jessie he would like feed back from people that use it.   wink

Re: [Solved] How is BunsenLabs developed? will it be based on jessie?

^ I never said that BunsenLabs was available.  Wally uses some of the alpha, pre-release, whatever you want to call it stuff from BunsenLabs, or so I thought based on johnraff's Wally cheat sheet.  Point is Jessie is, and has been, available, just not in stable form; i.e. Debian Testing.  wink

I realize that you knew  ... I'm thinking of "new" people getting the wrong impression.  I have "wally" looking and acting almost, see theme, as I have #! » Wheezy.  Once thing I did change is the theme so I have a "visual" reference for my wife that it's not our working system  big_smile

Actually, this is a misunderstanding that many people seem to have. Wally uses none of the stuff that is being developed on the BunsenLabs GitHub site. It is based on the CrunchBang .deb files, some of them edited slightly so they will work on Jessie (and hosted on my personal Dropbox account), along with the "greybird" theme, or an option of an old version of the Bunsen1 theme by hhh. The end result looks and feels a lot like what BunsenLabs will be, but under the hood it's pretty different, and the "welcome" script doesn't work properly. I would put some time into fixing that, but...

...there is a new installer coming along that builds off the github content to give a "snapshot" of where the BunsenLabs stuff is. It won't build a good working system, just something for testing and bugsquashing, but it will be a taste of the Real Thing™. Just don't use it as a main system.

Thank you for the clarification and correction johnraff.  I apologize for spreading misinformation.  Re: your signature - sometimes you learn by breaking things.  wink
