Is this the forum that gonna stay for bunsenlabs?
Or is there somewhere else a new forum?

Re: A community continuation: BunsenLabs

I just wanted to say that everyone involved with BL has done a fantastic job! I installed the RC the other night and was pleasantly surprised with how well it ran on my Chromebook (Acer C720P). In addition to the stability, I REALLY enjoy and appreciate the attention to detail throughout the system. For example the menu layout, install scripts, documentation, etc...well done! My only suggestion is to somehow have volti select the correct sound card or ask for the user to select it in bl-welcome. The sound control icon did not display for me and I wondered why one wasn't included. But then I checked autostart and saw that volti was supposed to be running. It turns out that device 0 for me is HDMI so I changed it to 1 and voila, it works. Other than that everything is peachy and BL is now my sole OS/distro (I removed Chrome OS a year ago and haven't touched Windows since 2007).

PS There is still discussion about sound, so things may change.

Re: A community continuation: BunsenLabs

Will changes come through as updates or should I reinstall once there is a final release?

I think most changes will be available as updates, but that won't affect your $USER configs. You would have to change anything there yourself (defaults are in /usr/share/bunsen/skel/), or create a new user.

I am certain Bunsen Labs can stand on it's own as an independent distro, please don't sever the umbilical cord just because.. smile

This is great to hear, because sound is the single thing that I have never been pleased with, from Waldorf through Wally and Hydrogen RC1. The biggest problem has been that if I plug in headphones or my USB sound card I typically have to go into mixer and choose the correct output, and when I unplug it's no better. It seems that it should just be a simple hierarchy. If something is plugged in, direct the sound there. If not, speakers.

Re: A community continuation: BunsenLabs

Ho there, fawkz! Haven't been here since The End announcement. Please, enlighten me anyone, why was it necessary to change the name of the project? How is Bunsen different from Crunch? Both a Debian based. Secondary, is it possible to just move forum account to a new place instead of doing registration again?

It was Corenominal's wish to use a different name. He wanted a clean break.

In a lot of ways. Why don't you see for yourself? smile

Sadly, no. You'll have to register again at the Bunsen Labs forums. The forums here are about to go read-only, by the way.
