[HOWTO] Guide to re-squash persistent live USB to reclaim space

sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /live/image  #Replace /dev/sdb1 with your relevant USB partition containing /boot stuff (initrd.img, vmlinuz).

Thanks for that guide, very helpful! May I comment that in the linked script the "cd /media/sdb2" should be changed to the USB device's second partition by the user (maybe checking with " grep -Hv ^0$ /sys/block/*/removable " would be safer first)? Else it removes all those directories on sdb2 (which might be a mounted hard drive) wink
