^ Thanks for that damo. Definitive it's not but encouraging it is.
I personally can't imagine him not continuing this awesome distro.

Yes, thanks for the info damo: what a relief.
I need Janice (is that capitalised?) soon -- I'm getting bored of sid and it's "grave" bugs...

photonucleon wrote:Uh, there is an 'ideas for janice' thread though... which would indicate that such a release is probably coming.
Um, yeah -- did you see when that thread started, and how much real input it has had from corenominal? And how there has been no "testing" release close to the freeze, as there was last time?
On the plus side, building a #! from Jessie is really no big deal, so carry on ...
Hehe, lol. You are saying approximately the same as I did before I was banned, just in a nicer manner

It will probably continue a while longer, but is probably not going to be here for the long run. If Corenominals personal interests and flavours stray a bit farther from Crunchbang, he obviously will not bother to develop a openbox-release that he's not using himself.

Arpinux is/was a long time CrunchBanger, I can't really imagine him not pushing for Phillip to continue with #!
There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.

Oh, the work he does with Handy Linux is not at all in the way of making a new Crunchbang release. So don't blame Arpinux for Corenominals possible lack of interest for Crunchbang

The more I use #!, the more I appreciate it.

I tried this a while ago: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143403
It's been dead and abandoned for a long time, now, but the idea was a fabulous one.

Lightdm: looks horrible if you need to run the gtk version, and it is very difficult to change much about it (the layout is not configurable unless you build it from source afaics). There is a webkit greeter, though, which is a possibility.
Huh? Just make sure your GTK theme is in /usr/share/themes or symlinked to it, then edit /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf...

# xft-dpi = Resolution for Xft in dots per inch (e.g. 96)
# xft-hintstyle = What degree of hinting to use (none, slight, medium, or hintfull)
