Share your actual desk(top)!

Gutterslob's posting brought up something in my head. I know how people's screens look like. It would be interesting to see how people's desks look like. So why not start a thread? Post pictures of your desk (or your room if you'd like to).

Shamelessly stolen note:
Please use thumbnails (please try to avoid the large thumbnail imgur.com code) linking to the larger image to help those of us with slow connections. An example of the code needed is below. Most image hosting sites will automatically generate this for you as well. Users have been using postimage.org lately which does a nice job.

Please use the Report button to let moderators know of images that are too large. Thank you!

Be honest, the desk wasn't that clean 10 minutes before the photo was taken. smile

Re: Share your actual desk(top)!

Actually, it was. I usually keep the area around my keyboard pretty neat an clean. The rest of the desk? Not so much.

Re: Share your actual desk(top)!

@dot|not:  Quite a minimal keyboard there!  Do you have a matching removable ten key or do you simply not use the keypad?

@Sector11:  Nice writing desk!  I used to have something similar when I was a lad...much better than the disposable RTA workstation I have now.

I never got how it can be comfortable using a mouse/keyboard without having space to rest your arms on, that setup looks tiring to me  tongue

EDIT: Will post mine in a bit

I don't have a matching removable ten key since I rarely need numbers at all. If I really feel like having a number block I'll just pull out my Model M or any of the rubber dome keyboards I have laying around.

Same here. I I had to type with that setup my wrists would kill me in a matter of minutes. Still waiting for your setup. tongue

Re: Share your actual desk(top)!

I had to clean my desk first  tongue Nah, it's usually a little messier on the left but I just did some Algebra homework (the real reason I'm late) so had to place some books there.

desk26.jpg

The thing on the left is not a monitor but a tv. There is a ps3 hooked up to it and I sometimes use it as a secondary monitor.

Particularly dirty desktop this evening :8

Secondary monitor is for the raspi, cables haven't been tidied, large cafetiere mug which the Argentine crunchbangers will appreciate. And the guitar is my brothers

Absolutely, Unia. I'm starting to have problems in my wrist once again....  roll

I have a great big office table chosen by ergonomics (height, etc... I measured everything just for that) along with the chair, but I won't have access to them for a while. It's a long tedious story I won't tell, but I'll have to be on that painful desk for some time. I'm a live sound engineer so when I'm not doing sound at local clubs, touring or sleeping. I live by my computer. I can spend from 14 to 16 hours right here almost daily. Either on the computer or playing a guitar. I normally have one guitar always on hand on a stand right in front the CPU. I took it away for the picture just to let you see the crap CPU.

Yes, I'm an addict and it hurts. LOL.

Nice place and nice guitar. A classical, isn't it? Don't you play, damo? Just your brother?

@Snap

Nah, not me on the guitar! Little bro is very good though - examples on soundcloud. ("Reel for Rosie" was a present for my daughter's birth)

He is also a professional web/database programmer and magician. How about that for a polymath! And I've just got him off Ubuntu, but only as far as Mint not crunchbang big_smile

Re: Share your actual desk(top)!

I got it second hand for free. It is an english chipboard desk which really doesn't fit my other furnishings (a mix of nordic functionalism and rural antique), but it's nice compared to my old clanky metallic PC desk, which I bought in the 80's. The middle top drawer makes mousing and writing unergonomical: the desk is too high for sitting and too low for standing. I tend to take the mouse on on my lap. If I write a lot, I do it with a laptop on the couch.

@geezer: respectable office.

Edit: found an old pic of the monster desk.

@nore: Thanks. It's where I spend most of my time: tinkering with Linux, thinking, writing, and listening to music. Although I'm retired, I still freelance occasionally, so, yes, it's actually an office.  wink
