^ Sounds fun. Further more, we're currently at SPAMCON 5. Here's hoping it stays that way for a while
EDIT: As of 19:04 local time, we remain at SPAMCON 5, with only a single recorded SPAM post today. Not bad. Not bad at all I guess Baba Ji's exhausted his resources. At least for now

Just a few minutes ago, I checked the ETHCAS & we were at SPAMCON 4, with 7 SPAM posts. I ran to the forums, but I didn't see any SPAM. Just now, it's gone back to SPAMCON 5 & is registering only 2 SPAM posts. Anyone know what's going on here?

The mods are doing their job?

^But that doesn't explain why the count is resetting. It should record all the day's SPAM, then reset at midnight, local time. That's why I'm confused.

^ your spam alert software doesn't work the way you expect it will? (too obvious, I know). (-;

^ Well, the Conky script works just fine. It changes the alert to the appropriate level based on the number of SPAM posts registered at the link in my sig. The problem is that the number keeps changing, which shouldn't be happening, but that's a problem with either the filter or whatever algorithms the site uses, none of which I have any control over. Maybe Boisei0 is making some changes, I don't know. I'm trying to get in touch with him to find out what the hell is going on.

Your link gets me to here: http://hubsec.eu:8145/
The "data can be found here" link gives me a page that says "0" (nothing else)
and the "stats" link gives me a graph that says the spam rose to 17 on 5/29.
What the hell is going on? (-:

^ And now, when I checked not even five minutes before, it said 7, now back to 0.
Definitely something strange happening, but your guess is as good as mine, as I've no control over any goings-on with that site, it's Boisei0's generous donation of time & server resources to our little project.

I'm sorry, but this made me laugh. I don't think I've ever read anyone so excited about the prospect of spam appearing on the forum. If anything, most people want to be away from it.

I just reviewed the database and counted about 11 false positives within 358 entries. The remaining posts are like this: http://i.imgur.com/bAROkI4.png. Furthermore, I'm subscribed to all new topics on the forums by mail. Some days, there are over 30 mails with new topics, with baba-ji 25 times or more
I do however have to check the code of the webserver and compare it with the database. It's now on my TODO list. Not sure when I'll be working on it.

Speaking of spam, check the introductions page. Someone named skbaba21 (or something like that) is posting a lot of spam messages. Is there a way for moderators/administrators to remove accounts from the site? If so, that's the approach I would take with this bot.

We've seen him before it was a lot of his SPAM that got this thread started, as I recall...

I didn't realize that, my bad. I tend to read the first few pages of a topic, then skip to the last one so that I can reply. It's probably a habit I should get out of, seeing as I miss out on a lot of information.

Thanks for checking in on it, & I'm looking forward to seeing what the solution will be.

It's not about the SPAM, it's about the fact that the SPAM counter is malfunctioning, with an increase in false positives & random resets, making it impossible to determine exactly what threat SPAM poses, & when to don our tinfoil hats or take shelter. If the alarms are going off when nothing's wrong, & not going off when there actually is SHTF, then it's a pretty unreliable, useless system.

When you see a spam post, don't reply (obvious) but you can help by hitting the [Report] button at the bottom of the posts.
This morning when I got up I saw the posts your were talking about and did a 'mass delete' and banned that spammer.
We are doing out best to keep the tin foil in the kitchen where it's meant to be.

What's the difference between a SPAM hunter and a moderator?

Since today, some users have the role "SpamHunter", this allow them to move the spam messages to a hidden board. [...]
They are not moderators, they are just helping out to remove the spam. And the only admin privilege they have is being able to move posts between forums.
Next step is improving the forum spam filters, but we always will have some spam that pass the filters.

^ Same here This could possibly re-officiate the (U)#!ETHDC
Then I could engage in direct combat with the SPAM forces of Baba Ji, & send them all to hell! (or, at least have them reincarnate as lower life forms) ]:D
