Re: My tint2 config

I wonder if there is a way to change the position of my desktop name from far left of the taskbar to far right of the taskbar or some workaround?

I have read that thread, and no, taskbar_name_padding is for setting blank space between desktop name and other elements around (left or right from) it not for changing the order.

I'm almost sure that what I want is impossible but maybe there is some hack or workaround that I can't think of.

Re: My tint2 config

I'm trying to learn more about how tint2 works. My question: what variable(s) create a separate taskbar  for each virtual desktop you have (with space in-between each one).

Corenominal posted a good example of what I want to understand - http://crunchbanglinux.org/misc/screens … top-01.png. Obviously I could "steal" a similar set-up - but then I still wouldn't know!

Re: My tint2 config

Mainly -

panel_padding = horizontal_left_right_padding vertical_padding horizontal_spacing
taskbar_mode = multi_desktop

Color settings for levels of transparency.

Find all the settings here.

Re: My tint2 config

PackRat ---- Panel_padding: vertical padding changed noticeably when I turned a 0 into 10, but a 10-0- 10 setup seems to do little or nothing to the  horizontal spacing of the taskbars. I must be missing something.

I have an almost stock tint2 set up -

Re: My tint2 config

This the look you're after -

July_1405368867_1600x900.jpg

Make the panel totally transparent, the taskbars don't look as separated if they blend into the panel. Taskbar transparency was fine, I just darkened them for the shot, and moved the panel to the bottom.

Just the panels section - No horizontal or vertical padding for taskbars, 16 pixel separation.

# Panel
panel_monitor = all
panel_position = bottom center horizontal
#L launcher, T Taskbar, S Systray, B Battery, C Clock

Re: My tint2 config

Here's my config. I am trying to make it so each task isn't so long across the bar. Any idea where to change that? I have 3 tasks open right now. I have one far left. center and far right. Rather them all start at the left.

Fixed it.
Did not have "task width" option.. so had to add it myself. #! did help though. Just checked out another config.

Re: My tint2 config

Are each of your programs open on a different workspaces?

I think you need multi desktop on taskbar.  Not single

Re: My tint2 config

I'm interesting in the tint2conf GUI. I'm new for using #! , I use actually the Waldorf version. I just found in waldorf the tint2conf gui. I thought, ok I try. But I could not. I not understand why. Can somebody help me, how can I use that GUI ? Because it looks much easier for me than editing the tint2conf by Geany. Ok, it's not difficult if somebody knows it, but I don't yet unfortunatly. This way I thought I use this GUI. How possible is it ?

Re: My tint2 config

@sammy66 --- I've not used tint2conf much, but when I did I found it to be buggy & inconsistent; I think you're better off manually editing the config file...
FWIW, You have to click on the graphical strip showing the tint2 config you want to change (there will probably be only one) then click on the "show properties" icon (top left) then change the values in the tabs accordingly. When you've finished, click on the "Apply theme" icon (top second left).

Re: My tint2 config

Continuation of my tint2 questions from here since thats the wrong thread for that.

Any of you guys rocking dual screens and got a nice tint2 setup?

This is what i got so far:

XLII wrote:
Sector11 wrote:

Found this: here

Hey, thanks. Tried running dual tint2's with tint2 -c /path/to/config1 & tint2 -c /path/to/config2 & ( got it from somewhere off your link) and got a GLib-CRITICAL and i'm not sure what that is or why.

Unfortunatly

# System Tray
systray = 0

doesnt seem to do anything, the systray won't go away on my first tint2.  (but somewhere along the line the systray actually vanished yikes )

Got it back somehow but i will pursue this in the tint2 thread instead tho so i dont derail this thread the first thing i do on the forums, hehe.

Edit:
Oh, just realized there's a thread named tint2 help as well. Maybe i should've posted there instead. :8 Perhaps a mod can move this if that's the case.

And since I'm here ... my latest tint2 panel that isn't - just the "systray" part because a mouse centre-click shows me what's where anyway:

Check out Post #57 in this thread ...

Oups, apparently i missed that post totally. :8

But thanks again Sector11, i will read through the tint2 threads again and mess around with it some more once i get home from work.

EDIT: Sorry if i was a bit unclear in my previous post, but reading post #57,  it doesn't solve my issue.

This setting gives me a full tint2, including systray, on both of my monitors.

panel_monitor=all

(My underscore)

I just want the behavior of panel_monitor = all (or one "bar" for both monitors) but with a single systray on my right monitor.
But according to 196 and 108 it seems that it can't be done for now.

Re: My tint2 config

Had another go at a tint2 config. Originally i wanted icons instead of taskname, but it seems that i can't adjust icon size without changing the panel, so i settled for this for now.

Still a WiP though.

Re: My tint2 config

I decided to switch to orage from gsimplecal so I can try setting up reminders and alarms and stuff, and I figured out a nice way to make tint2 deal with orage so it works just the same.

in ~/.config/tint2/tint2rc:

clock_lclick_command = ~/.local/bin/tint2-clock-action
clock_rclick_command = ~/.local/bin/tint2-clock-action

in ~/.local/bin/tint2-clock-action (or wherever you want to put it, just remember to do chmod +x)

#!/bin/sh

if [ `pidof orage` ]; then
    orage --toggle
else
    orage
fi

I'm sharing this because I realized that setting the command to orage --toggle does nothing unless orage is already running, and I decided to not have it run at login for now, so the helper script spawns it if it's not running.

You can set orage to have no title bar and menu if you want, and move it to the corner so it launches directly beside the clock.

Re: My tint2 config

Hello guys,

i have a dual head setup, with tint2

taskbar_mode = multi_desktop

and

autohide = 1

.

I have two panels, one per screen. and the panel from one screen hides/unhides independently from the panel on the other screen.  then when i search for a running program, i have to go to position of the bar on one screen, then the other screen to find the program. which is disturbing.

is there a configuration to synchronize the appearance/disappearance of the panel?

thanks
d

P.s., i removed one of the panels, such that only one monitor shows the panel with all the tasks on it and thus the problem is solved.

panel_monitor = 1

Re: My tint2 config

Hey guys. I pulled a config from here - unfortunately I do not recall who posted it and couldn't find it after skimming.

Anyway my question is, what exactly do I need to change in the config file to make the things in my taskbar flash? An example would be, I have Pidgin running and I have an IM window up. When someone messages me, usually when I don't even have that window in the foreground, it will still flash on the taskbar letting me know someone sent me a message. However, whatever config I have now doesn't do that. So which option in the config file needs to be changed for that?

Thanks in advance!
