Howdy! #!

A freind of a friend was going to junk a perfectly good Asus EeePC and I couldn't just let that happen (she had lost the charger and somehow broke the XP install so bad I couldn't even log in in safe mode!).
I've been into computers for a long time now but was always a windows guy (I game more than I probably should). However I've always been a big fan of GNU/OpenSource as both a practical and philosophical movement and I've always really wanted to get into Linux. I love building Pc's and messing about with software, and customizing and tinkering are great ways to eat up my days. After some light start-paging (google is for suckers and the not-paranoid) and trying a few different distros (Ubuntu and Mint were a bit too recourse intensive for my preferences) I found #! and I'm hooked! The reviews mentoined that it's not as user friendly as other distros but I think when they thought windows-user they didn't mean someone like me. I found #! to be more than intuitive for basic browsing, notetaking, etc. Anyway now that im all set up I'm ready to try my hand at whatever comes next. This little Eee is now my take everywhere school computer and I'm working on setting up Python 2.7 and getting down to some real learning!
