My idea for Janice? Pandas. Corenominal should throw pandas at all of us and give us everything everybody asks for in it. ]:D

(In case any didn't get the visual pun, "throwing pandas at us" is a mondegreen of "pandering to us" (EDIT: ...and was further morphed to "pandaring" and "panda ring"). Feel free to search for the source, but be aware you'll probably run across colorful stumpy gluebags on the way.)

EDIT: After the "throwing pandas at us" thing went viral, one of the show's writers tweeted a pic of an adorable panda eating some eucalyptus, saying "You do want these, right? I get so confused." Most of the fans actually enjoy this teasing "twolling" from the writers and voice actors. Fun times! O:)
Back to Janice: I trust corenominal to make it a wonderful base that the rest of us will modify mercilessly to suit our own whims.

Really folks, I wouldn't change a thing. Please stay away from marchobmenu, and default apps will be the best judgement of the #! guru corenominal and folks. I'm a noob, about 8 months into the saga of #! the best, stable Linux Debian-Openbox ever. I only reformatted yesterday, it was a task, but wanted a long term home on a 2 Tib drive, needed more space. I installed Liquorix, but caught on early not to add repositories that would likely create unmet dependencies and real problems to fix. Liquorix is a stable repository addition, use it on the other five OS's on my PC. I like Fluxbox, and also VSIDO and AntiX, in their own right excellent distro's. I would not like to see #! as fluxbox or gnome3, spoil my day, badly. I stumbled upon #!, and found it odd, departure from the 125 other distros I downloaded, installed, tested and found that I just didn't like them compared to #!. Crunchbang is different, it's soul is different, and something quite unique about the menu, dark looks, and the fluid navigation, very responsive. I was lost, sophisticated beyond what I was accustomed to with windumb XP, #! was a departure for me that I intriqued by with a passion, I read, do and test all the time, create pipe-menus and menus, add in specific menus customized for me. I have a conky, borrowed from the conky forum, it was corenominals, I tweaked spent weeks, adding and learning the script, using geany as a text editor. #! is about the user, allowing the user to create a desktop and OS to suit the personality and needs of the user. I just request that aspect of #! be forward of what Janice 12 will be. Simplistic, minimalistic, and completely customizable. I like what I created for myself, my daily activities and hobbies, my 1969 MGBGT restoration, music, and my family. Also no matter what I throw at it, it works. Yea, it does. I bought a new Canon digital camera, supplied disk were useless because I really don't waste my time with Wine, but the photo's loaded right up and I edited and archieved them. Stay the course with perfection, if you want to do anything, help me put Netflix on #!. I salute the intellectual attributes, bit of envy but reall enjoy learning Debian, and tweaking #!. Thanks to all who graciously helped me in the forums, maybe I too can be an assist to other at some point. Thanks again. zephyr

@wall of text stream of consciousness post: separating your thoughts into easily digestible bites is a Good Thing.
PonyMod agrees.

I guess that the more annoying question would be,
'will there be a testing release named Janice, or will he wait with it until Jessie goes stable?'

No need to read the home page. Janice should be here very soon, but there is hardly any talk about it. That's why I question it ]:D

If Janice = Waldorf with a different default theme then it will be ;
It can't be just that. It also has to adress systemd and introduce full uefi support.

it was a joke containing a truth about how i look at it, they have to move forward... logically. {)
~ When jessie hits stable you could upgrade crunchbang and keep it alive a bit longer.

Yes. But I'm actually in doubt that Corenominal will release Janice anytime soon. And if not released very soon, then it's kind of redundant. Then he just as well might wait until the next stable release.

And where's the common sense in that? I don't particularly care if he releases it "any time soon", I'd prefer a wait and get a stable system.
Debian Jessie is not released yet. If corenominal follows through as expected, #! Janice will be released shortly after Debian releases Jessie.
However you have the option of downloading the Debian Jessie Beta release if you wish.

Debian will be frozen for Jessie beginning the night of 5 November 2014. The next stage will finish in Jan 2015. Jessie/Stable release some time after that.

Somewhere, not sure where, I think I read: May.

^ "When it's ready." If past releases are any indication, I expect May is a reasonable target; Wheezy and Squeeze were ready in March, and IIRC they froze in September. (I'm sure the Gnome/GTK/GTK+ stuff and systemd aren't the only reasons Debian is giving itself a couple more months this time around, but they have to be contributing factors.)

I would love to see the default terminal emulator changed to Terminology.... (I know Terminology has been written by / for the Enlightenment team) But we could have cool things too in our distro
People in masks were always assholes. It was a scientific law. Give someone anonymity and all social niceties break down. The Internet had proven that.

Pretty neat, I wonder what it's dependencies are.
