Favorite Firefox Extensions / Addons

I'm surprised this post isn't already kicking around the forums.  What are your favorites?

Obviously the browser would be a total pig with all of these loaded up so I use profiles and different items in the menu to run different combinations of them.  This works well for me and has the added benefit of giving me two independent FF instances running at once which can be helpful when testing.

So, like I said what are your favorites?

Fast Dial looks great.  I love that feature in Opera / Chrome.  Does gears integration just work with wordpress.com hosted blogs or does it work with self hosted blogs?

Re: Favorite Firefox Extensions / Addons

Well I hope so, given that my blog is self-hosted, and it was my blog which told me gears was a good thing to have wink

And yeah, Fast Dial is great

Gears works great with self-hosted wordpress installations.

Re: Favorite Firefox Extensions / Addons

Adblock Plus - excellent for killing those useless adverts.
NoScript- a little bit of extra security.
NumExt - numbered tabs, very useful with
Vimperator - make Firefox work with Vim keybindings.
Sage - RSS, although I'm moving to Newsbeuter in an effort to reduce mouse usage
ForecastFox - for the weather
Cards - because I'm a sad case :-)

All fed through Privoxy, a worthwhile addition to any browser, although it's not an extension.

What do you get out of it?  When going through over SSH or Tor it's helpful to avoid DNS leak but otherwise I haven't found much use.

Re: Favorite Firefox Extensions / Addons

I don't use SSH, I'm not even sure what it is, or Tor, I find it too slow. It just blocks ads that AdBlock might miss. I'm not what you would call a 'power user', just an everyday web surfer, emailer and newsgrouper.

Tiny Menu

I view KDE like I view snow. It looks fun and marvelous, it's fun to play in, but after a while I just want someone to take it all away.

Just wanted to see if you had found a use I hadn't.  And yes Tor is deathly slow.

That's a good one.  Once I got Zotero I uninstalled, but Read It Later was a life saver on flights.

Do you find it faster to select the tags from the menu?  It always seemed like faster to just type it to me.

Re: Favorite Firefox Extensions / Addons

tiny menu
microfox
google toolbar

use small icons, no text, set google toolbar to replace search box, customize toolbars to move everything I don't use (nav arrows, home, reload, stop, etc) off main bar and move menu, url box, goggle favs, gmail, and search box to top bar. I then remove nav, bookmarks, and google toolbars since they are empty. I get everything I use on one toolbar to maximize space on my EEE 900 screen (1024 x 600).

For Firefox Windows, IE TAB is a way to view TVU P2P video streams and other IE-only sites within FF.
