The aim of this thread is to stimulate some positive good-natured CrunchBang navel gazing O:)
There are just two rules:
No reference to other operating systems be they other Linux, BSD, UNIX, Windows, OS X, Haiku, Minix, Plan 9 etc. Debian is perhaps an exception, since CrunchBang is still Debian ultimately.
No negativity e.g. don't say I love CrunchBang because the alternatives were too bloated or they sucked. Say something like, I was looking for a lightweight Linux operating system that was discreet and elegant in a minimalistic way.

I use plain Debian, so:
a) the no viruses thing makes my main computer activity (porn) very easy - I can be watching porn about 20 minutes after I pop the install media in
b) everything gets installed from the same place and updated at the same time
c) rtorrent

This Waldorf version is the very first distro that works flawlessly. No error code, no weird behavior, just perfect.

I'm using Crunchbang because it is Debian without the need to add in nonfree for most of my machines straight from the installer.
It is very usable straight away, only need to setup your internet.
It has most of the programs that I would install for myself on Debian.
It has the best forum that I've had the pleasure to be part of.
I like it.
Linux since 1999
Currently: AntiX, & Crunchbang.

@IntoCB - used the b-word
cb was my eye opening into what is possible using Linux. Before I used the more general public friendly Linux distro's, but felt that if I was going to use Linux, why use a distro that somewhat resembles using the more standard OS. I mean in the terms of using a GUI front end for just about everything. I wanted to use Linux for the power and configurability that it offers, something more minimal. I found cb and haven't looked back. CB has really helped me to grow knowledge wise and really brought to me a new hobbey and enjoyment using my computer. Technnically speaking, it has also been a big boost. I currently have since followed up with experimenting and using another distro as my main, but I owe a lot to what I have gotten with cb and the community and that's why I'm still around to give back when I can.

I happen to like openbox.
I already bought the hoodie.
Crunchbang looks better by default.
I enjoy a full desktop environment without feeling obligated to use certain applications.
My laptop runs well with it, and plays no tricks on me.
It's just plain Debian.

So there we have it.
If you like watching porn and you're married to the developer, CrunchBang is the ideal operating system for you.
For me, it does what I want an OS to do, doesn't get in the way and looks a bit like the album art for Unknown Pleasures.

@el_koraco Thanks for being so honest .
@fatmac and @rkwurth Ditto, no need to repeat it all.

Well ... CRUNCH and BANG ... Happen to be a couple of my favorite words anyway. When ya put them to together and mix them with nixy goodness on top of it, logic dictates that'd have to be @ least twice as good as separately !!!

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.

Greetings from Luxembourg and well said.
Hubby has created a masterpiece
One of my ambitions, if and when I reach retirement, and have the time, is to create a Linux distro/let.
A fraction of what Corenominal has achieved would be a success for me...
Keep up the great work guys and gals!
P.S. and as you say configurability and community is all important

#!Crunchbang and Openbox WM > make a great combo for a GNU/Linux OS, light on resources.
Highly and easily configurable. Extensive Repros.
Minimalist/light Desktop and good selection of 'default' Apps,

Apart from what's already been said, I like the way everything fits together. It's all easily tweakable to my personal taste, but out of the box the whole setup makes sense, on the surface and under the hood.
This is the advantage of having almost everything designed by one person, to one vision.

IMHO #! is properly configured Debian and works quite well out of the box. It's enough for me
