Updated Waldorf images are available now.
It has been approximately 3 months since the previous Waldorf images were built, so I figured the time was right to upload some updated builds. To be honest, I was tempted to wait until Debian Wheezy migrates to stable before updating the builds, but Debian being Debian (released when ready), it could mean waiting a week, a month, or even a year (although best estimates indicate it could be ~3 months).
Anyhow, the new images contain some fixes to the installer that affected installations performed using DVD media. Personally, I tend to install via a USB stick (the recommended method), so I had not come across the bug myself, until somebody else mentioned it. The bug appeared as an error message just before the GRUB install screen, where it asked the user to insert an additional disk. To fix this, I have applied some patches to the apt-setup component of the Debian Installer. I have tested the fixes on a couple of machines and they appear to work, however, it would be good to have them tested by others.
Other minor changes of note are:
Iceweasel updated to version 18.
VLC has replaced GNOME-MPlayer -- back by popular demand.
A Policy Kit Local Authority file has been added to enable easy mounting of internal drives within Thunar.
xfce4-power-manager has been patched to fix a long standing issue whereby the battery status icon would cause a visual error within tint2's system tray, after a system had been suspended and resumed.
As with the previous updated Waldorf images, other changes have been kept to an absolute minimum and any existing Waldorf users should not need to perform a new installation, unless they wish to help with testing the install process.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed feedback, ideas, patches, code and financial help. CrunchBang would not be possible without you! I hope you enjoy these updated builds.
Happy CrunchBangin'!

Installation went very smoothly on my EeePC 1005HA, no problems to report I'm pleased to see that VLC has returned!

Well done corenominal...

Hopefully Debian will get it's house in order sooner rather than later.
Of course, 'its house' is our house too, so if any #! users can help, that would be awesome!
For anyone interested, Richard Hartmann regularly publishes a breakdown of the RC bugs, his latest post can be found here: http://richardhartmann.de/blog/posts/20 … r_Week_03/

eD2k/Kad mirror up-to-date. Busy in real life now, so no VM testing this time, sorry.

the above mentioned changes looks all good to me, but I will maybe wait for the stable release with installing, will give it a thought though, keep up the good work, and thank you for doing it corenominal

Interestingly, or not, whilst Waldorf/Wheezy is not yet officially the stable branch, it has been running without any real issues for a long time, so I have now listed the Waldorf downloads on the default download page.

I had an awkward UEFI set-up on my Lenovo S205, but the image prior to this installed without hitch.
Debian Wheezy on VeryPC Low Energy Desktop | Elementary on Lenovo Thinkpad SL510 | #! on Lenovo Ideapad S205 | Raspbmc on Pi | Linux Mint 17 XFCE on Lenovo W530.

Downloaded, (occasionally) seeding, and installed the latest image to a spare external HD. It just keeps getting better & better! I've had it running for several hours now, and my wifi (which has been problematic with kernels that came after the first Statler backports image) is still working well, and some niggling little bugs in Radeon font rendering have been fixed. (I know these are upstream fixes, but still... /)^3^(\ ) If the wifi survives through a few reboots over the entire weekend, then this will definitely be replacing my Statler install.
Great work, Philip!

Downloading now, just in time to blitz my ailing xubuntu setup at work (since oddly that has gone crunch bang yet #! never has)
Thanks papanominal, I'll hazard a guess that it's the same solid reliable #! as usual and give you the praise now

Testing the live 32image, downloaded today, direct, intended for my eeepc, discovered a rather odd thing, in the menu for multimedia there is still GNOME Mplayer, but when clicking it, there is vlc, not a problem for me, but might create confusion for somebody, just wanted to mention it. But Waldorf is surely looking awesome, great work, as always. Thank you!

I just tried this new image, and it seems it does not work out-of-the-box on a UEFI system (or I'm just missing something). How did you do?
I have windows 8 installed (manually, not oem), and wanted to dual-boot with #!. Secure boot is disabled. Installation went smoothly (as always), but after reboot, it boots directly into win8. There is no new entry in the bootable devices list in 'bios', also no GRUB.
As I read it, wheezy beta 3 supports uefi. There are so many uefi tricks on forums that I don't know which one to follow.
So, anyone with experience regarding uefi? Thanks in advance.

Not sure on exact debian version but wheezy is being frozen at 3.2.0. The number after the dash in 3.2.0-x is just a number indicating how many times a patched release of the mainstream kernel has been put out by the debian devs.

^ Thanks. So Wheezy/Waldorf will remain at 3.2.0 until patched after release (?). Or would it never get patched if it is considered "stable" (or frozen now)?

I have just finished Installing the latest image on my Dell Vostro 1400 and it works perfectly. The laptop runs considerably less hot now, which was my only problem with Statler.
Thank you
I've made a huge mistake

Yeah, its gonna stay at 3.2 with security patches backported and all

Latest snapshot installed.
One possible issue/glitch;
When the post installation script started it reported that the internet connection test had failed.
However, the internet connection was OK so I hit 'any' key to continue, the internet connection test was OK and the script continued on as expected.

If the wifi survives through a few reboots
...and the honeymoon's over. 8.( Same old story - let computer sit idle a few hours with newer kernel, and wifi stops working with that kernel, for like, ever. (Can't even connect with the LiveISO anymore; fortunately, the older backported kernel still works. ) Looks like it's finally time to divert some of my funds toward a cheap Atheros wifi card and send my Realtek dongle to the moon.
