i think i'll go with the radio stations for now.
good idea with pastebin. fun to check out other peoples subjective choices.
nuvola is ok, like a specialised web browser, using flash plugins and everything. a bit heavy. but the only thing i got to work is grooveshark, nice feature: adding songs to playlist. but no radio stations?
pandora not available outside of the usa. iheartradio don't work.
but none of those seems to use scrobbling? with that i mean, using my scrobbles to create a unique listening experience.
what about libre.fm?

thanks to all!
i'm lying sick right now so plenty of time to get into this...
lowrider mentioned streamripper, i took a look at his thread. the screenshot suggests that streamripper is able to get artist/title and such from the radio stream.
is it possible to get that info to conky instead? i'm still using radiotray (0.7.3), i like it's minimality but it doesn't offer anything like that...

Thanks for sharing ohnonot, there's lots of resources in this thread.
Here is my recommendation for people who like diversity:
<bookmark name="wfmu - freeform community radio" url="http://wfmu.org/wfmu.pls" />

slowly, there's more internet radio stations coming in, some of them really off the beaten track, which means "good" in my book.
but how about more stations with music only, no blah whatsoever?

I don't know about radio stations whatsoever, but if you love some really good mixes of christian heavy metal, alternative, pop, rap and stuff, all appropriate music and just awesome. Hit Radiou.com and the shoutcast icon on the right of the page with the thunderbolt will let you download a .pls file which you can run in vlc and stream like a .asx file in windows. They dj's during the day are really cool and legitimitely funny, and the ads aren't prevalent too much and are strictly radiou ads that are like 3 seconds long, and the music is good. They have a facebook community, a twitter community, etc.

after half a year, i'm always gravitating back to somafm.

The Clementine music player, available in the repos, has some radio stations built in to the player and you can add your own as well.

somafm is still the best, in my very humble opinion. Between Groove Salad, Drone Zone, and Doomed...the hard part is picking a single station to fit the mood.
