On VastOne's promise that he would bring beer and wine, just a quick thought that probably is completely dumb and impossible:
There is the irc, which is great, but how about a night where there is some sort of group discussion, perhaps mediated through video or something? Like using youtube live, ustream, or google chat or whatever its called, to hold a group talk about something? There is the Linux Users Groups that some people might attend monthly, so what would people think about something similar? A monthly talk would be pretty cool. Perhaps like the linux radio shows that are quite popular people could organise particular talks or topics for the night, or perhaps we could sit round trying to break each others computers, or drinking tea, or wine and beer? Thoughts?
I reckon conky, smxi, general configs, set up of servers, etc., would be a good start. I can imagine a conky one for sure...
Thinking how vibrant and energetic this community is, I reckon it could be organised and may be popular. People come here from across the world of gnu/linux users precisely because of how vibrant the forum is, and I think this would be a good addition that people would like.

You suggest a "Porch Night"? I'd be down. Cigars are on me.

I think tinychat.com would fit for this very well. Everyone can talk, stream the webcam and write with all others in the room at the same time. Can be very chaotic, but without screaming little girls it can work. Also there is no need for installing any software, but flash-plugin is needed. 8o
I'd join.

If anyone can do it, we can do it!

What night works best for ya'll? I'm totally down for it. Let's do it sometime this weekend.

I'm free this weekend away. Maybe a good time for a test run.
I reckon this could expand too. There is such amazing amounts of really valuable knowledge here, and interesting, passionate people, that I can imagine quite a crowd eventually coming. If we build it, they will come (I hate that saying, but I think it applies...).
Saturday night?

Tiny chat seems to work fine

This weekend is BarCamp, but I should be free to chat for an hour or two. Who wants to organize it?
