Tried to update source.list to:
running 3.2.0-0.bpo.3-amd64
## For Handbrake
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org wheezy main non-free
then i updated & installed the media
sudo apt-get install deb-multimedia-keyring --this worked
but next
sudo apt-get install handbrake-gtk
resulted in this:

Welcome to the forums!
It looks like maybe you are trying to mix Statler Backports with Wheezy repos? That won't work. If you are using Statler then you need Squeeze-compatible repos. Can you post the rest of your sources.list please?

ugh, sorry, just getting back into this after literally years, so all these names are rather confusing yet...
edit: changed wheezy to statler, and it worked. thanx for saving my frustation!

I also would like to confirm that this still works, but would like to add if you want the command line interface version simply type
sudo apt-get install handbrake-cli
So for me it was add the lines
## For Handbrake
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org wheezy main non-free
To my file etc/apt/sources.list
then i typed
sudo apt-get install deb-multimedia-keyring
then I typed
sudo apt-get install handbrake-cli
And for those scared of a ittle cli, here is a great guide to using the handbrake-cli version, its really quite wonderful.

This might seem like nerco-bumping, but it's not...
