You see that woman all the way in the back row that looks like a tiny speck?

That is the closest you have ever been to a woman.

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

imagine a tiny spot on a small land mass, in a tiny sea, on a small globe, this tiny globe is circling a tiny star, imagine this minute star is only the center of a tiny system of other globes, this is only one of a multitude in a tiny cluster. pull back your view and start to see as this cluster, again, becomes a mere blob of another larger conglomeration, this is the edge of the known universe.
remember that spot at the beginning?
that's you that is.

Total perspective.

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

see even after a couple o' j smiths easy to miss read of patsies for pastis - it's like pernod, or retsina (yellow booze turns white with water)

doesn't matter if -they- don't drink,  pastis touches everyone, my mate was comatose drinking it,  i have been beyond drunk on it.

anyway i'm gonna stop now before this thread gets closed tongue

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

when i was a kid, whatever the beeb or others presented. i remember emo phillips, as far as college and uni goes again i spent most of it on a thread closing haze big_smile
laughing at my mate studying 'words' written on the road was a good giggle.

after - i really rate bill hicks.
on the flip side i think chris morris is a god of comedy/satire ( i'm not trying to get this thread closed)
check 'the day today' , 'Jaaam',  and 'brass-eye'
cutting edge 'sketches' (5 years ago)
oh and 'nathan barley' and 'anything' with richard ayoide in

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

Do you remember Bob Mills or Sean Hughes?

Yes I remember Emo.

Yes Brass Eye was good. I am a fan of Alan Partridge too smile

Of course The IT Crowd! "It's Vista", "we're all going to die!"

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

agree with all those, no idea who bob mills is, sean hughes - yes irish fella - reminds me of tank girl and 'deadline' comic/mag for some reason.
Alan partridge started on the day today. but Ah-ha knowing me knowing you - classic.
'yes - i've got lot's of issues, of What Car?'

i devoured the IT crowd 'integrale' in about a week - please tell me you've seen Submarine
watch it. thats all,

and for the record, it's 'Richard Ayoade' i was only one letter wrong. smile

(my first exp of rich A was 'garth marengis dark place' a bit odd but funny. after that you need to watch the the mighty boosch) if you haven't already - they slipped under my radar. still i spent most of time watching This nonsense

anyways enjoy

edit - fixed bad URL's

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

its weird, admittedly - those are the things that hit me, garth  is ultra odd, boosch was a breath of fresh air, haven't checked peep show, appeared on IMDB when i was looking around.
the IT crowd was funny in a slick kinda way - i liked it had chris morris etc in

btw Richard A seems to have slipped a bit his last film was 5.7 on IMDb - I try not to watch films less that 6... unless it's underground/arthouse,

oh have to say Father Ted - between the N64 and smoking **** father ted was top priority.
course graham lineham directed many IT crowd shows.

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

My sister really likes Boosch. She tried to get me into it, it just didn't grab me. Weird cos we usually have the same sense of humour.

I love Fry and Laurie smile

Pffft. Forget what IMDB says. I never listen to critics, I form my own opinion!

Yes, how could I forget Father Ted - Bishop Len big_smile

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

I don't really like the stand-up comedy of the last 20 years, I really prefer satirical cabaret. This is why I avoid most American comedians, besides the deceased George Carlin of course. There is also this Canadian guy, Sector11 posted a link once, but I forgot the name.

I mostly watch German Kabarett, like Hagen Rether or Serdar Somuncu.

Re: Comedy, what do you like?

I love satire, I often watch a program called "have i got news for you" in the UK.

But my all time fav comedian is Billy Connolly, im of the generation that started to watch him after his hair went grey, so he is like the grandad that says inappropriate things at family gatherings. I also hate politicol correctness and he is the champion of offending those pc, sandal wearing, tofu eating morons.
