[SOLVED] Problems installing at first screen [32-bit]

I pop in the CD, and see the first menu (Live session/Install/Memory check). I can use a live session just fine, but when I ask to install, it kind of freezes at the menu and this thin, green, barely readable text stretched across the top of the screen (the menu still visible).

undefined video mode number: 314
press space to continue or wait [illegible]

When I do press space or wait until it does something, a lot of visual noise appears in the same thin stretch across the screen, and you can tell that it is scrolling by.  A pulsating noise comes out of the speakers.  I gave up waiting for it to do something else after about 10 minutes and had to <alt><sysrq><O>.

Re: [SOLVED] Problems installing at first screen [32-bit]

only suggestion i have right now is to try to burn a new disk because maybe the iso is broken? (dunno if it is possible to have it broken in such a way that a live session works but install doesn't, but i suppose it can...)

Hi,

try this: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/221379/#p221379

Optionally, add vga=788 or vga=ask to the kernel boot line.

(Reposted on behalf of pseudocube; I'm assuming he clicked the "Report" button when he meant to click "Reply".)

Excellent link. Deleting "quiet" and appending "fb=false" to the end of the line got it working. Thanks!

Hello,

please enable DHCP in your router and try installation again.

Good luck!
